my new favourite sliding wheels are 90a black bulldog skates double conicals. they slide like ice and ride smooth. dont know about how they wear yet. other favourites are 88a gummies for those quick downhill sliding runs (drifting corners) and mini cubics (powell peralta. i only have originals dont know about the new ones).

go to faltownskateboards.com for tips on learning to slide, and all you need is a set of sliding gloves (http://www.lushlongboards.com/05/workshop/wkshp_gloves.php), hard wheels (I recommend 95a or higher) and a hill!
Good luck! Will

Aengus A Good quiet sliding wheel is any of the old school Sims Wheels (B52's DBl Conical 63's etc) Wookie rides em and they make sod all noise.. Drop us a line if you want a set, Only problem with softer wheels is that usually they are a quieter ride but the slide is noisyer (bad Spelling????)
anyone on here with questions regarding the slide clinic in Bristol then drop me a line on the email above..
Skated some crazy ass hill in the welsh mountains on the weekend lots of unchartered runs up there... RAVE ON RAVERS

Hey, I guess advice is redundant as there are so many threads on this subject on this page and many others but... I reckon somthing in the 90's, high is slidy as you like but I'm now looking for a wheel low 90's cos the noise of my 97's is causing the people who live on our hill to complain! For dedicated set up as high as it gets, sergio or cliff sliders G wheels.

Yes, yes and... YES!!! I am most definitly comming to the slide clinic, I bought my ticket. Got me and me mate Phill comming down all the way from Norwich! It will be good to meet all the scene, I've been looking forward to it for weeks, the only bad point is everyone can see how rubbish my style is =) Joking aside though, its gonna be more than all that cos in my 6yrs riding I've never hung out with any riders that I havnt introduced to the sport. The only problem I have is that I'll be on train and crossing london and I want to have my 57", my 47" and my 40" with me.... I'm gonna have to come to some kinda arrangement with meself! So yeah, its gonna be good to ride with you an the boys and meeting Cliff and Sergio?.. Cant wait, s'gonna be somthing to tell the grandchildren =)

Yes mate i'm down with sliding the bigguns. Got a kisiwa about a year or so ago, high speed colemans feel amazing on this beast, 360's were actually not to difficult so I reckon you'll get em in no time it just takes a bit more strength in the middle faze! at the last Cliff clinic down here in the middle of the comp Mark and I bust out tandem Coleman slides (me on front Mark at back) down the hill, I think there is footage on the faltown site somewhere! Mark has also done sergio slides on it which is extra impressive and funny cos he's only about 5 inchs taller than the board!! GRACE Faltown site would be a great place to learn techniques, also go to cliff colemans page on this site and ask the man himself he loves nothing better than teaching a newbie!! Good luck! Aengus are you coming to the cornwall slide clinic? Would be good to slide with you mate!!

Yo, I'm stoked as monkey still from this weekend, I took out my Ed Economy all weekend to the pub and back, didnt fall off once! But aside from that and more ion keeping with the topic of the forum I took it out sliding and the thing is a BEAST! 85mm kryps worn down to about 78-80mm and trackers set loose, man.... you aint slid till you slide big, I got pendulums, toeside one handers, laybacks, mecca's and you wouldnt believe how easy the surrenda slide is when you can lie down on the board *grin*. Its easy as anyting. I'm gonna have to rearrange my quiver towards sliding the big boys, I might put my cliff slider wheels on an see if I can 360 the mother.
Its weird, I started sliding on the BE 40, then went to the 47 HC now I've done the 57 EE I dont know where its gonna end but I think I'm gonna focus on big gun slides, soulful as you like and narley =))
Anyone else slid the big guns?

Ive had the same issue here in NZ. Personally, I believe my situation was caused by a combo of me being quite heavy and giving the board absolute shizen, crap quality nuts, and a lack of Locktite applied to both threads - i.e Nut and Axel.
Its damn embarrassing chasing a rogue wheel down the road in front of people !

To me this sounds like slipping axles. Hey blake, is it that your axle nuts are loosening and tightening, or does it seem like the axle actually gets pulled through the hanger and ends up longer on one side than the other? If the latter is the case, then you need new trucks. Try some Destructo 6.5's, they rock!

yeah new axle nuts is a good idea. i went through a phase of seeing my own wheels rolling down the hill in front of me, because the nylon insert in the nuts had worn out and wasnt gripping the axle anymore and theyd unscrew mid-carve.. And get a faltown slide board!

Bearings-Blake

Blake, it may be down to a few different reasons; 1) Quality of bearings 2) Softness of wheels, most sector nine wheels are soft, therefore will grip more in the slide, just imagine as they go sideways the urethane is gripping and the axle of the truck is trying to burst thru the bearings, this sideways pressure could be immense!! 3) Tightness of axle nuts; It is a phalacy that there should be sideways play on your wheels, it may seem that they spin faster but when they have weight on them they dont work as effeciently and that little bit of play + alot of sideways play + bearings bending, warping and popping! If they keep loosening then i would say get some new axle nuts! 4) Is the deck 'convex' i.e if you look at it from the side does it do this (: ? If so this could mean a high ride and more pressure on bearings in the slide! Get a big pool board with 90a+ wheels mate and you'll love it even more!! Have a good one mate! DOM

ive been slidin for about 8 months now on my sector (36 inch flex w/ indy trucks and some sector 9 wheels) but i constantly break my bearings. i have spacers in all 4 wheels and dont kno why they keep breaking. I have some space for the wheel to move, but the sliding messes with my bolts and sometimes over tightens bolts or loosens them. The kinds of slides i bust are more freestyle (i think; 180's fs or bs, or just massive fs slides). i was just wondering if the bearing thing was normal because it seems like it owuld be immense pressure on the bearings but i figured id take some of your guys advise. thanks

wheels closer to 90a will be easier to slide. (Dont get me wrong all wheels are slidable, its just you aren't making it easy for yourself!) definatly get yourself gloves. The flat board shouldnt be a problem, it sounds like a nice length, 40" is what I first slid on, although some concave does help with feet grip.. as for sliding tips Cliffs the man for that!! Will.
