Gravity Team Travels Video...

I just bought the newest video from Gravity. What can I say? It is not that good :( It has tons of air, but not much carving. The small bits and pieces of "soulfull" skateing are spaced few and far between. They do visit lots of different skateparks around, so that is cool. They just do the same tricks (getting air and grabing the board, I fogot what you call that, a shifty or something) over and over, so that is not too cool.
Kind of a bummer, since Gravity Slides was pretty good. Anyway, lets see some of the other skate companies put a video out that has carving and nothing but. So, if you are going to get just one longboard video, make sure this is not it. If you are a person who wants any and all kinds of longboard videos, then this might be pretty good. Ok, see you at the GRA event!

fellow longboarders- i own a gravity hyper carve that is quickly deteriorating due to the fact that i use it for boardslides and in the park, but as my downhill ski racing season nears, i wanna mentaly train for high speeds and the like. i need to fabricate a glove for attacking those gnarly hills around salt lake city utah. any tips as to what material i need where on my board? p.s. any utah longboarders i need bonding. there are not many other hill bombers here, at least those i know of. so give me a ring, not those poser u of u frat dicks either. aloha!

lock tite

Locktite is a liquid plastic, and technically not a glue,it expands under pressure so you should be able to paint it on your axle, let it dry, then because the axlenut has some looseness in the thread the locktite won't grip until the nut is tightend, then the locktite expands and holds the nut in place. This is the way it was explained to me, I put it on the threads and tighten right away ,but I've never meet a locktite I couldn't loosen, it does work though, highly reccommended to Seismic owners for their axle bolts.

Steve, that sounds like it looks trick, maybe you ought to combo those Chrome-Hub Gravity wheels or Power Paws with those nuts for more sparkle+shine!Seriously, though,BE Careful,'cause Acorn nuts are not stop/lock nuts. They can vibrate loose. If you're totally smitten by the style, you could try a drop of Loc-Tite(Removable formula, the red 242 compound)on each nut to help keep 'em on.Just be aware that Loc-Tite in the bearings isn't a good thing, and the wrong compound(Permanent,Blue)will seal your wheels onto your axles for life.

I got chrome rims for my board!! Well, they're more like hubcaps. They're these little chrome plated acorn nuts (?) that look like little bullets. I got them in 5/16 so that I could use them instead of regular axle nuts. The box says they're automotive fasteners. Is it a good idea to ride with them, or will everyone be reading on the crash page about an experience with my wheels falling off? steve

Hey dude try these luge sites. I've luged for a few years now and hink I've found most of the major sites. If you are ever in Indy look me up. Land Luge Las Vegas (www.lllv.com)- this is the best site. It has all the messageboards plus links to other sites. Subterfuge Luge Store (www.landluge.com) has all the parts you need as well as complete luges. Also has "The Book." National Street Luge Association (www.roadluge.org) is the organization I will be racing in the next year. They are mainly east coast racers but some have qualified for the X-Games and Gravity Games. These are the main sites I look at EVERYDAY. Good luck. Ride Hard, stay safe.

Right on damon, just bring it in with you. I ride the NPD Landboard, which is easy to lock up with cable or Ulock through the patented QuadFLEX(TM) Suspension System. If you don't know what I'm talking about (we're still new to anyone not in Santa Cruz) check it at www.npdlandboard.com.

I put the U lock around the board between the trucks, then I loop it thru a post. The trucks act as "stoppers" so the deck can slide back and forth, but the trucks stop the lock from sliding off the board. It is a real simple concept, but I am having a tough time explaining it. I guess I could draw a picture and e-mail it to you if you really want...

I just use an extra long "U" lock. You can lock your board up to a poll with it. The trucks make it so you can't slide the board thru the lock and get it off the poll. Of course if somebody took the time to take off the trucks, they would be able to get your board and trucks, but I figure if they want it that bad, they can have it.

I remember surfing the web on various longboard sites when I came across a company that makes a lock for your longboard. I need this because I ride my board to school everyday and I don't want to risk getting it stolen. I forgot the company/website that makes this longboard lock. If anyony knows this, please post a message telling me the webpage or the company that makes it.

If you were thinking of modifying shoes by T-Nutting rubber (such as tire tread) onto them,DON'T. Metal transfers heat, rather quickly,to ones tender toes!Try starting with a worn flat-and-smooth skate shoe or maybe rock climbing shoes, and use an industrial grade contact cement(Locktite makes some killer adhesives),cure under pressure(Yup,clamp 'em)for 60 hours or so,and you should have brakes for awhile.I found that motorcycle tires are easier to cut up,and come with smoother treads than car tires, plus the durometer/compounds vary more,so dialing in the amount of "dig" your shoes have is easier.

I use the tire shoes for racing. I use the non tire shoes for casual riding. The shoo goo stuff is what I use. One tube per shoe let them set up for three weeks. Cut off excess oozing out the sides every day or two as you tighten down the c-clamps.

Slalom Cones

The cones NCDSA brought to its last meet were purchased at Rite Aid, a mega-drug store (think K-Mart) in the Bay Area. They are made from flexible plastic, are roughly 10" high, and have slots in the cone area to easily crush down should you fall on one, and I suppose, be less prone to blow around in the wind. They were $4.99 per 4-pack. This light-weight cone seems ideal since the worst crashes and near-crashes were caused by riders' wheels getting caught up on a cone and throwing the rider. I can only imagine that with "real" construction cones and their fat rubber bases we would have had far more spills. You can see a pic of these cones at http://www.ncdsa.com/single.asp?src=Mark_Johnson.jpg.
