EastCoast :(
On 11/24/2005 TheFuzz wrote in from United States  (68.13.nnn.nnn)

Yea I'm from Newport News VA and I longboard quite often. There are basically NO hills anywhere on the coast but there are a few spots worth grazing over. The saddest thing is that there is a pretty large longboard following in my area. Granted a lot of the people are talentless shoebees there are some pretty good riders around. No one really gives the east coast any credit for longboarding and I have yet to find some movies or pics that are set in the East. I know this is a North Cali website and you guys will probably scoof at this post but is you ever do find yourself in the Peninsula area of Virginia I can probably hint you into some very exclusive local spots. The altitude around this place is pretty slim so we have to get creative. Any VA riders looking for good spots can hit me up at my e-mail^^^^ .

Keepin it real in the Far East.

Ditch in Houston
On 11/21/2005 jaybyrd wrote in from Mexico  (207.17.nnn.nnn)

Dylan,

We found a ditch that has a couple of speed ramps built in, it needs to be cleaned and it can be wet but it's worth the trouble. It's on Lee road off of Airtex right where everyone parks to watch the planes land at Bush Intercontintal Airport.

So my roommates and I recently got into longboarding. We live in a small college town in Missouri and we were wanting to take a weekend trip. Any sweet runs in Kansas City or St. Louis?

houston texas spots
On 11/6/2005 Erich wrote in from United States  (66.94.nnn.nnn)

Hey Dru I live in league city and I skate that south shore garage but the best place is the allen center garage in downtown houston... its got banks at the bottom to do a cutback or a hand plant. Another is behind barnes and nobles on 45 off of bay area blvd.. theres a good concrete ditch that really gives you the feeling of surfing a wave. Sector nines all the way!

Hey Dru,

I just purchased a Sector 9 Goddess of Speed 46" pintail from GearGuys.com.($149 w/free shipping over $100!) I love this board!!! Comes with Exkate Trucks
and Kryptonic Route 70mm/78a wheels and Blazer ABEC 7 Bearings!! This combination really makes you feel like you are surfing on land!! This is my first longboard and I'm very happy with it. Check it out!! Yeah, Corpus Christi is pretty flat as well. Nothing but parking garages!! good luck!!!

Hills in the Desert Southwest
On 10/23/2005 David Verduin wrote in from United States  (209.165.nnn.nnn)

For those of you near the desert southwest, Albuquerque and its bedroom communities have some pretty decent hills, not to mention the infamous Indian School Ditch (miles and miles of downhill concrete ditch). El Paso has got Trans Mountain Road on both sides of the Franklin Mtns(traffic can be an issue though); seen pictures and heard stories of stand-up and luge exceeding 60mph!

minneapolis, check out kenwood parkway from kenwood park all the way through till you reach Parade Ice Garden. get to hennepin and kenwood parkway, the intersection where loring park, the guthrie and the walker all are. go west on kenwood till you get to the top of the hill, by kenwood park, and bomb straight down. super fast, not good pavement, but the speed more than makes up for it. two hills too.

Do tell young Hamptons roller.

What "sick back road hills" are you speaking of??

Street names, that's what I'm looking for.

I've got one for you. Great Hill Road off of Majors path. Perfect pavement, just about fast enough with a tailwind to make it interesting.

Your turn.

Bay Area Rides

Hey Hung, do you guys have any slide sessions in the peninsula? I've checked out most of the places listed on those sites and some are good, some are out of date as all three websites aren't updated that often. Looking for a short hill that's good for sliding with smooth, new pavement and virtually no car traffic. Thanks.
