Parking Garage in Houston

Sunday while out looking for riding spots we found a sweet 15 level parking garage in the 7500 block of Fannin down by the Astrodone and Reliant Stadium. It is split so the runs are only about 8 storys each, but they are great left hand runs with only about 15 feet of flat between each drop. The drops aren't that steep but you can pick up to about 25mph after a few levels. There was security but not a single hassle, and we were there about an hour. Anyway it's not a mountain run but it works for now. Anybody in the Houston area that wants to ride parking garages with us on the weekends just drop me an email at john_spurlock@sbcglobal.net and we'll make plans. Seeya

if anyone reading this lives in or is visiting utah, in utah county, cedar hills there is this massive hill curving around the mountainside. it is the biggest local hill, the onlly down side is the speed bumps at the bottom, but as long as your wheels are 80a or higher or 60mm or higher its managable. it's insane, I'm not sure, but i think my friends and I are the only ones to do it since the speed bump. its pretty new, so its got smooth pavement, but after the hill it gets a little rough. peace kyle

I have this drainage ditch by my house and it rules. It has a hip and some what of a snake run. You can ride it like a half-pipe on smaller longboards. Old school is fun too. Any board with 75a-90a is fine. If any body lives in the area, email my or post a comment. I am just getting over a broken arm. I had just got Abec 11 Strikers with biltin abec7 bearings, and i bombed the biggest hill in the nieborhood. I turned into a street only to almost hit a parked car. I had to jump off. I was going way to fast to slide. Does any body know about the city crusher by S9, that is my next board set up with randle 150 and Berts wheels. peace out duuude

If you really want hills than go to Riverside Cali. At Limonite and Clay there are subdivisions with mile long, newly paved roads at probly twenty degree angles or more. You don't need to worry about trafic, so hit those up. While you are there say hi to my grand parents for me, they live in those subdivions.

In Salt Lake City Utah there is some sweeeet boarding as we all know, but this hill is one of my favorites, it is in salt lake, just north of sugarhouse park on Blain Avenue between 17th east and 15th east, just go to the intersection of 17th and 17th, the ride down 17th east till you hit blain then turn right and enjoy!

finding runs

Being new to longboarding, the first question i had was, "where can i find some good runs fast?" well, a bit of techno google is the answer. Google Earth is a satellite imagery software free off of the web. find your city and zoom in. you can use the curser and point to the top of the run (check the elevation at the bottom) and the follow the run to an end point (check the elevation at the bottom again). with a little math, you can figure the % grade of decline. along with that, you can use the software to measure the run distance, and then mark your runs and print them off for future reference. I used it this weekend, and found several nice 1/2 mile + downhills. if you want an info on the software, let me know.

The university of utah has AMAZING longboarding! There are SOOO many different runs to take and there is the WIDE open rice eccles parking lot at the end that is sweeeet for speed, slides, carving, etc.A train called trax takes you back up to the top each time with 3different stops to get off on. You can also take VERY intense runs down the street coming down from the JCC, including one that leads into the extremely steep avenues. If you are ever in utah and would like to check it out or live here and lookin for a someone to board with, then gimmee an email at paulsteuri@hotmail.com, and add me on msn to chat about any thing longboarding, slalom, speedboarding, etc.!
so long!
