Hey nice work, How did you guys get cheerleaders? Why can't we have cheerleaders at the slalom races? What's the deal on that? - P

Hope you guys had a great time smashing cones, perfect weather! Guess we had a good laugh at the notion of doing that after 24.7 miles, and we got distracted.

Yo - NSCC slalom tomorrow, right? around 9 or 10? If so, we might bring over whomever from the MS ride wants to check out the slalom scene. If slaloms not going on or if the group prefers, we'll go hit Redmond skatepark instead then some place like Redhook Brewery.

I plan on having another SGS race with the same course before the end of the season. Perhaps more cash on the line and get Dave M. to help with timing?

The SGS course was meant to be SCARY, and I think it worked. I found the worst line you could take and still go fast. Just find a hill that has lots of dangerous obstacles, skate as fast and as close to them as you can without crashing. Then you'll have an idea of the course. Set your cones accordingly.
Not only is La Costa the weekend of the 17th, but so is the Maryhill Festival of Wheels. Most of the riders in Portland will be at Maryhill. If it's anything like the F**k the Rain Tour, there will be over 70 people riding that hill! Should be INTENSE!!

man, you rocked it Skip!! and good on ya Corey, clean machine. can't wait to hit That Hill.
think we might set up the next portland GS on the 10th or 17th? that would make it either a prep for La Costa (for some lucky bastards) or the weekend of, so that we can have our own GS "in honor of" those tearing it up down south. the B.C. crew is now planning a slalom event the weekend after La Costa...
HAYATO - thanks, nice vid!!

The GS course was set after Josh's Death race. Dave got the timer set up instantly and we were off. The course was wide open and fun. The format was 3 runs, best one counts. A .1 second cone penalty was accessed with no DQ. Mike raced with a drop DH board, Billy and Dan did it on their longboards, and Casey raced on his street deck with Gumballs. Super fun vibe. Brad took it easy, saving himself to make us proud at La Costa. I want to thank everyone for coming out and racin' in the park. BIG THANX go out to Rebel Skates for prizes. Again, thank you to Dave, Corey and Brad for getting the timer set-up while I was off dorking around after the SGS race. Do we have new time keepers in the making? I think I like the timers we've had at Tabor. They're cuter than Striker, and they don't yell as much!
We should do it again next month!
1. Skip - 44.129 2. Corey - 44.312 (clean) 3. Josh - 44.605 4. Robin - 45.667 5. Scott - 47.344 6. Dave - 48.096 7. Casey - 49.15 8. Billy - 50.022 9. Mike - 52.772 10. Dan - 57.275 11. Brad - DQ
See you at the Portland Pusher next weekend!

Hey everyone, I've finally put together the footage from the Combo Plate II Race.
I had a wicked time, that course was a real challenge, I learned a lot!
Don't forget about the Vancouver Slalom Race, put on by Malcolm and Jeff. The week after La Costa.

This race was a little gnarly. Fast, big offsets, and a SCARY finish line. I set the cones very close to potholes, large cracks, dips, and a concrete barrier(on purpose). One wrong turn and you are going down hard. Not for the timid. The finish line claimed a couple victims. Mario Pieretti took a nasty slam while trying out the course last Wednesday and had to get his elbow stitched back together. JP Rowan gets the Slam of the Day Award with a dislocated shoulder. He came in a full 4 seconds faster on his second run and piled hard at the finish line. Racer and EMT Evan Miller was able to fix him on site.
The format was simple- $5 entry fee, winner take all. There were only 13 cones, so it was a 2-cone DQ with a 1-cone/1 second time penalty. Best of 2 runs. $65 on the line. Here's how it ended-
1. Skip Marcotte 2. Josh Burt 3. Robin McGuirk 4. Casey Morrow 5. Mike Christopher 6. Scott Moore 7. Zaki Mason 8. Robert Carpenter 9. Billy Meiners 10. JP Rowan 11. Dylan Rogers 12. Stuart Elgin 13. Evan Miller
Thanks to everyone who raced hard and helped out. A great way to spend a Sunday morning! Hope to see everyone next Sunday at the Portland Pusher #6!!

I know that Stryker and I are both out this coming Sunday due to getting work projects done but sounds like Corey/Jackman are reppin' Seattle at that super secret place...
Just a few more babbles on Combo Plate, first I'm gonna put some faster wheels on that scooter...
Scott Moore pulled some impressive powersliding on my Roe + ZigZags to rub huge patches of sticky chewing gum off the wheels.
BC's Hayato takes the Perseverance Award for getting into some really sketchy puckered turns, then hanging on all the way, and making the course, that was cool.
Jackhammer put his 42" Comet longboard through some 5.5-foot centers and ran the whole hybrid course clean twice on that thing!! I got a vid of that I'll try to get up...
