I have actually been really looking forward to the Big N Fast on Sunday and now I just got invited to go to my favorite skatepark in Astoria on Sunday. I am torn at what to do. I like cake and pie and I really want a slice of each but realize I can only have a slice of one or the other. I am long over do in hooking a session with my slalom friends and have been looking forward to hanging out and skating with you guys so If I do not make it Sunday lets squeeze one more event in before the end of October. I have totally been out of the loop this year but am always stoked to see you guys are keeping the scene alive around here.

Skip, look forward to hearing about Sandia!! Big-n-Fast is gonna ROCK. Not necessarily the last race of the season though, I bet we can slip another weekend or two in Oct/Nov somewhere eh? You guys better stop running cones, sounds like practice or something??
By the way I'll be driving down late Saturday evening, maybe around 6 p.m., so in Salem around 11 p.m... in case any of us late departurerers can synch up.
Hayato -- thanks again to you, Malcolm, Jeff and all for the excellent BC race, great organization, cool vibe, challenging course, and hell you guys even generated a decent sized audience!! It was also great to see banana boards and some really cool custom boards out on the course.
The whole weekend adventure with Tim, Corey, and a cameo by Stryker was a RIOT. Oysters, beer, bikers, country music, and bombing a full-mile GS-like hill in Tim's neighborhood at midnight!!

Bummer about Rock Creek! After this past weekend in ABQ, I was really looking forward to a full weekend of skating. Thanks for the effort anyway guys!
Where's all the chatter about our last race of the season?
I look forward to skating with everyone this weekend. Watch out for a ringer from Texas...and don't mess with him.
We are planning on running cones on Tabor Friday afternoon. Come on down!

You Seattle racers kicked our asses. Also you did set an example of how fast skaters should be.
The locals are now really pumped on slalom here, all we can do is say thanks and please do come back to Vancouver again!
The video is pretty much raw, it kept things real. No background music or heavy editing. Hopefully it gets the point across. It was a really awesome day for the racers, audience, and organisers.
Anyway here's the link:

See you all again, next event!

Permit denied....
(From Contest Calendar):
ROCK CREEK RALLY IS CANCELLED. WE APOLOGIZE, OUR PERMIT WAS DENIED BY WASHINGTION COUNTY DUE TO A FEW OLD DINOSAURS ON THE COUNCIL. THESE STEREOTYPE - BLINDED INDIVIDUALS WILL ONLY ALLOW BICYCLE RACES DISPITE OUR COMPLETION OF ALL REQUIREMENTS INCLUDING INSURANCE, RESIDENT APPROVAL, AND MANY VOLUNTEER POLICE, MEDICAL STAFF, AND RACE WORKERS. WE'VE PUT A LOT OF WORK INTO ORGANIZING THIS CHARITY RACE AND ARE PISSED TO SAY THE LEAST. SO WE ARE STARTING NOW TO GET 'ER DONE FOR NEXT YEARS ALONG WITH A RACE IN PORTLAND. WE HOPE THIS DOESN'T INCONVIENCE ANY PLANS MADE BY RACES OR SPECTATORS. PLEASE LET US KNOW IF WE CAN HELP IN ANY WAY.

Hey, 1st - If anyone has tried to email me in the last week, there's a good chance it somehow got deleted as our email has had some snafu's. So email me again if you emailed me and did'nt get a reply yet.
2nd - BIG-N-FAST HEADS UP- My wife, Sister, Nephew and Myself will be backpacking Sept 27th Wed thru Sept 30th Sat so I likely won't get to a weather report for Sunday Oct 1st until Saterday Sept 30th while in Newport and I'll try to post something from the City Library then. So, keep tuned here to the CSA forum on Saterday if the weather looks "iffy" so you will know if I call the race off or keep it going.
3rd - Good to see CSA had a presence at Encinitas/La Costa.

hi guys that are racing in canada this weekend.
the map that i posted seems to have the star about 2 blocks from the actual location. follow the print directions to get there.
blaine WA border crossing, 176 st to highway #1, west on #1 to lougheed highway (#7) exit, north (east) on lougheed until it turns into pintree at the mall and follow straight until you get to the north side of guilford. you will see the evergreen cultural center on the right, douglas college on the left and a pedestrian bridge across the road. after going under the pedestrian bridge take the first right, pinewood dr and then we will be in the parking lot on the right side of pinewood.
make sure to write down my cell number so you can call me if youre lost

Hey, I just checked the www.salemsbd.org site and the Derby Hill will be used both Saterday and Sunday this weekend for a car race so If I do go, it will be Monday or Tuesday in case any of you have either day off and want to skate some cones in Salem. Adios-P

SKIP- Thanks for the trophies, I'm glad you said something because I forgot all about the ones you made so that will be great, one less iron-in-the-fire to worry about.
OK - So it looks like it will be dual lane racing! I will have my Sister and Nephew(who will be entering his first race) visiting and they and my Wife will be backpacking right before the race so I may get a BBQ going if I have time to get all the cooking stuff and food together, but there's a high probability that I won't so if I don't I'd be into all of us having an post-race stop at some eatery.
If I set and mark courses this Sun, Mon, or Tues, I'll post ahead on Saterday so if anyone wants to get in on a Salem cone session you can.

$10 donation for timer is good.

First of all, I think the $10 is a great idea. Almost as good as the idea of a clinic regarding the feeding and caring of the timer system. I think that the more of us that understand how to do it, the better.
My vote would be for the dual lane format. I'll take any experience with dual that I can get. Maybe a "Corvallis Call-Out"? Are we BBQin' still ?
For anyone that's interested in seeing some 4-man Downhill action, Eastside Robin is throwin a downhill race at Rock Creek the day before (9/30) just west of Portland. (come on out Pat!) Check out the contest calender or his site for more info.
I've still got the trophies for the Big n' Fast. We will be awarding them thru 6th place and a couple fun ones. Because I said so!
Give 'Em Hell in Cali guys!! Safe Travels!

Pauli, great idea on #1, the $10 donation. At some point when everyone's gathered, like the racers meeting, we should have Chewning or someone who sets up regularly to give a seminar on setting up and taking down the timer, how to pull up tape off the switches, how to pack without crushing, how to not fold the switches, remember to put them in the box last on top of the heavy stuff, etc etc... OK I'll get Off the Soapbox!!!
#2 - I'm partial to dual lane but single jam is always fun. Definately want the tape switches, people can decide if they want to relax or not ;-)
