Excellent event! I got so much riding in and had so much fun.
The big "trains" through the course were a blast. The BBQ was great. The weather was perfect. Lots of new people and old friends.
How are we going to top this at our future events?

Today was the most fun I have had on a skateboard in a long time - thanks Pauliwog! Not a rain drop all day! Great to see so many new people running cones - amazing! Skaters from California and skaters from Canada all made the trek to this wonderful hill. One day soon there needs to be a big race at this venue - its one of the best I have skated. There were easily 50 plus people there at any given time and the stoke was flowing! Special thanks to Jody for keeping track of all of the times. Great courses, great food and great folks. Also, it was wonderful to see Michael Dong and Tay Hunt back on their boards and charging hard as always. Michaels first warm-up run was a full 2 seconds faster than the rest of the field. Norski - take care of those ribs!
Lots of pictures to follow!

It's going to take more than just a few "showers" to keep us from coming. The van is loaded and we will be heading south early in the morning. Bringing the whole family with me. The kids are dying to charge that hill! Should be in Salem in time for a breakfast burrito!
I will bring the pop-up, all my cones and a few new goodies from RoeRacing for all to see.

Dry pavement?

The weather prediction shows that the temperature will be 10 degrees above the dew point. This, along with some solar heating should dry out the pavement even if there is a shower. So I predict at least most of the day we'll be able to skate.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

It's still a "GO", "Green Light", "It's On", etc. I like having my season opener this time of year and annually playing this weather thing. It's fun, no?
I checked around on the previously mentioned weather info sites which more or less agrees with what Gareth 'sez. It sounds like if we get preciptation it will be a "shower(s)" rather than "rain". I like "quotation marks", it's even better when I do the "finger quotation marks" when I'm talking.
I called Cat already and updated them on all the above and they are on the way.
-Does anyone know about the Canadian Contingent? Does anyone know their phone #'s and can anyone call them if the weather gets wetter?
GARETH- Please bring your foldup popup tent shelter thingy, and ANYONE else who wants to bring one should as well. - Thanks
Also, just in case I forgot to mention it, BRING THE LEAF BLOWERS if you have them.
I'll check the weather periodically through the day, no news will be good news so unless I post here and make phone calls, plan on it happening!!
Thanks- The Management

Hey James thanks for the pictorials,
Cat, does that mean you and the crew are stopping by Corvallis on SATERDAY on your way to Salem? I don't get home from work until 6pm-ish(variable). Anyhow, call (541)754-7826 Home or (541)754-1373 Work if you need to get ahold of me or need directions.

Sunday Weather

I checked the following for Sunday's weather:
www.weather.gov 50% chance of scattered showers possible rain www.weather.com 30% chance of showers after 3pm www.kezi.com(local TV) "slight chance of showers"
As of now, I'm still calling it a "GO" , If I see a worsening trend/report tomorrow whilst I'm at work I'll call it off.
Just a reminder, ALWAYS bring a park/pool deck (or downhill deck if you lean in that direction) just in case of an unanticipated bust. It hasn't happened in 4 years of using this hill and the park staff love us, the suits in the office may or may not feel the same so expect the unexpected.
--I think this is a safe bet for all you CSA'ers and Northwest Newbies out there.
--I think All of you from CANADA and NORCAL should keep tabs on the internet weather when you wake up on Saterday morning before you come up, I would advise checking several sources and see what the overall feel is for Sunday. We go through this every year on this event since it's so early in spring in our wet season, but most of the time we luck out(I think we've only had one rain-out ever and I think it was in the late fall?).
Thanks - P
