CSA now owns a PA system
On 5/31/2007 Pat Chewning wrote in from United States  (67.189.nnn.nnn)

For less than the cost of renting a PA system, I bought one for CSA's events. Got it used from a church that was upgrading their PA system.

5-input equalizer, amplifier, nice microphone with on/off switch, a big-ass speaker. Tested and works. Connected to my MP3 player built into my phone. All for $50

The only thing we HAVE to do is keep Pauliwog away from it ......

Misconceptions about Oregon State Games
On 5/24/2007 Pat Chewning wrote in from United States  (67.189.nnn.nnn)

EVERYONE can enter.

Only those AMATEUR racers in OR, WA, NV, CA, ID can win OSG medals.

All other people can enter and get times, and results will be sent to ISSA, just like every other race.

==================================== ======

If the online pre-registration is closed, no worries. Come to the race and we'll sign you up on race day.

You know, I really like that big......
On 5/23/2007 Pauliwog wrote in from United States  (65.122.nnn.nnn)

.....Sturgeon showing up on my posts each time I have the most current post. It kind of makes up for "other" inadequacies I won't go into detail about. So I think just to make sure I "keep" the fish I'll just keep posting something, anything, anything at all just to be the most current and keep that fish on my post as if I'm the one who caught it. Yeah, that's the ticket! - P

Yeah, Speaking of motel rooms..........
On 5/23/2007 Paul Howard wrote in from United States  (65.122.nnn.nnn)

......I totally spaced off reserving a room for the Salem race. I'll join in with anyone who wants to lend me some floor space. Let me know here or email me with the "email name-click thingy" above.

MALCOLM - I may start looking into getting a room at the Motel 6 in Salem for starters, if I do you can room with me if you want to. Right now we're still moving and building/cleaning things so I'm more of a Space Cadet than usual but if I get a room soon I'll post here. I'd email you directly but I only have email access at work and we can't use the "email name-click thingy".

Adios- Paul

PA system, or stereo with mic input?
On 5/22/2007 Pat Chewning wrote in from United States  (67.189.nnn.nnn)

I REALLY would like to find a PA system, or an old stereo with a microphone input for the Salem race.

My old source left the country (good luck in Europe races, Brad)

I REALLY need this to amplify anouncements, music (maybe), and the start tones.

Doesn't anyone have something I can use? Please let me know.

big fish picture
On 5/22/2007 dan-o wrote in from United States  (71.197.nnn.nnn)

why do they keep showing that picture, the three guys and the big fish?

answer: the advertisers suffer from dumbassery.

are slalom skateboarders fishermen?

well are they lads and lassie's

i suppose we fish for faster times, our boards be our boats and we bait our wheels with radikals and splitfires...

All for the grand catch of the lowly second.

so avast me hardies, cast off and set sail fer the mighty course, that lay itself before thee....HAR!

Questions about the State Games
On 5/20/2007 Pat Chewning wrote in from United States  (67.189.nnn.nnn)

I received some questions, so I'll post the answers here for all to see:

Q: Park slalom course from drop-in, roll-in, or push start?
Park slalom proposed course is here: (starting from roll-in)
http://www.northwestskater.com/Aumv07parkslalom.html

Q: How fast is the Salem Hill?
Bombing the Salem hill takes approx 21 seconds -- see times here:
http://www.ncdsa.com/contest_registration.asp?ContestID=278

The length of the track is 940 feet see here:
http://www.salemsbd.org/salem's_track.htm

So that gives a bombing-the-hill speed of 940 ft/ 21 seconds = 44.76 feet per second = 30.5 MPH

Most of the slalom races take about 30 seconds, so those are in the range of 21 MPH
