I will be arriving at the Portland airport at 10:25 pm on Thursday July 5th.
Anyone in the vicinity that could give me a ride to Hood would be much appreciated. (I'm too cheap to rent a car)
If you see me on the side of the road with my thumb out, please pick me up! ;)

Yeah Pat, my son is doing fine now. He had a stomach virus that seemed like it might be something worse.
Hey Gareth/Striker et al. When are the races in the Seattle Area?

The tone starts in the Hybrid tripped up a few people. I decided to take a look at the results and see what I could find.
The results are here: Click here for link
I finally found an aspect of slalom racing where I am almost as good as Michael Dong --- hitting the start on the money.
Your top 3 best starters (total time in 8 runs going early or late) are:
Michael Dong .66 seconds too early or too late over 8 runs Pat Chewning .89 seconds too early or too late over 8 runs Dan Miszewski 1.15 seconds too early or too late over 8 runs
The absolute best start of the day was a tie .003 seconds from the tone (Gareth Roe and Dan Miszewski)
The prize for the worst start of the day goes to Josh Burt who started a full 12.04 seconds after the tone.

In the Hybrid race, Ladder Bracket 2, run 2
Dong is supposed to be in the left lane, Moy in the right. I call them up, enter the names into the computer, and glance up to make sure the right racer is in the right lane.
I say: "Swap guys, Dong is supposed to be in the left lane".
They say: "We don't need to swap, check again."
I bury my head into the computer's spreadsheet. Sure enough, it says Dong needs to be in the left lane, Moy in the right.
I say: "Swap lanes" They say "No, I was in the other lane last race"
I re-look at the spreadsheet, check the last run.... looks good to me. I finally stand up, look right at Dong, who is in the right lane and tell him "Move to the left lane" He turns around --- IT'S not DONG! It is Corey Moy!
Two skinny, fast, dark-haired guys with Roe-Racing chest protectors racing each other and I'm so tired I can't tell one from the other ....

quick post of pics as there's way too much to say about this incredible weekend before conking out tonite.
such a great vibe with the new riders like Dylan taking well deserved medals home- and other Cali riders Ravitch, Judy, Bruce, Tay, Cat, Tokle, Marcus, Norski, John Kim, Lance, and the Canadians Malcolm and AJ, all road tripping to get there. Group 'W' and PDX crew-- smokin all weekend!
thanks again Pat Chewning for putting on a smooth race, and RoeRacing, Subsonic, Khiro, Rebel Skates and many others for the sponsor support--
these are mostly off a cel phone, hope to see more pics including that big group shot later!!

Take a look here for some suggestions on timing equipment. http://www_slalomskateboarder_com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=2513
What will the timer be used for? Practices? Small competitions? Large competitions?
For reliability, I suggest a Trackmate timer --- if you don't mind hand-entering the information from the timer into a spreadsheet when running a race.
If you are more interested in a timer for larger races and you want the times to automatically appear in the spreadsheet, then Chronocone is a reasonable choice.
Chronocone takes more effort to set up, and it takes more expertise to run than the Trackmate. Whether it is an overall win depends on the level of skill and practice of the timing operator, and how big and fast-paced the race is.
I do have to tell you that I am the developer of Chronocone, and I am biased.

I am sure that this question has been asked before, but that was before I visited this site. I am looking for a supplier for timing gear. It doesn't have to be wireless, it does need to be less expensive and reliable (if those two criteria ever go together.) Any advice you can offer would be appreciated.
I add my congrats to Brad for rippin it up in Europe!!
