Hey! That's all I have to say, really. So, like, um, you know, Hey. OK, that's about it for now. If I think of anything else to tell all you NorCal'ers, I'll post it right here. Really. So, that about wraps it up for now. Schlater -P

Laguna SkateGarden review

After some great sessions I am stoked to report that the new Laguna Skategarden is top notch. Located in Sebastopol just 15 min SW from Santa Rosa, its certainly not one of the bigger parks around although what is there is very well done. In front is a great little beginner bowl (which thankfully keeps the beginners well away from the more advanced tranny.) Next back is a large street area that the toe flippers seem quite happy in that is about 40% of the park. Next is a sweet combi bowl with great flow and the most "accessable" over vert pocket I've ever ridden. With tranny from about 6' to maybe 10' tops its fast and fun with near endless lines to find, and is maybe 30% of the park so its pretty good size. In the back of it all is a nicely shaped and symmetric peanut bowl with "tile" stamped into the 'crete and true pool coping recently given a protective clear coat. Almost as deep as the monster at the bottom of San Rafael's McGinnis Park, this bowl is not for the weak and is atleast 10' to 11' deep and almost 6' in the shallow end. The parks entire concrete surface was given a rusty earth tone color which really gives a nice look to the park, which goes great with the rest of the park which is a community shared garden, already full of life. The local skaters are friendly and take turns being the "guard" who locks the gate so they keep it open until its really hard to see every "sunset." Hours are 9am to Sunset, daily and is free. Being essentially in downtown Sebastopol (albiet on the edge of "downtown") almost any other services you may desire are very close by. Without being biased that this park is so near my home I can say that the Laguna SkateGarden in one of the finest of the 30+ parks I have ridden through 5 states of skate travel adventures. Without truly having it all like the epic Cunningham (a true dream park which I say is near perfect, quite worth the hassle of parking and paying in a "public" park? Like I say, near perfect) this little gem pretty much has it all in a less sizable portion. The vibes are chill, the park is visually interesting and very well poured and shaped everywhere. Hard to beat besides its smaller package, this newest park in Sonoma County is to me our best to date and a worthy stop during your skate travel adventures.

I'll help put the word out.
I'm heading to Peter's memorial today, won't be skating in SJ tomorrow.
I know you don't like a bunch of Hoopla, but Happy belated Birthday. :)

I'm not big on pushing politics but if it involves skateboarding and future for my kids I do. Now's our chance to get rid of the skater hater if you live in Capitola. Please vote. I was asked to help get the skater vote. Thanks folks.
If you vote and live in Capitola vote for Mike Termini and Dennis Norton for Capitola City Council. They believe in the future of Capitola. Both want a skateboard park and to bring back the Capitola Classic event. Both are backed by the Sierra Club and want to plan for the future of Tola. Unlike the current major who is a skater hater, Tiki hater and pro development.

4:30 p.m yesterday-- Norcal Skater Dies in Collision - even though he had a helmet on. Downhill with blind corners is dangerous! Choose your spots wisely and skate carefully!
His friend who hit the truck too, probably saved his own brain with his helmet.

Added contrast to the wave, something we'd wanted to do from the beginning since the concrete was so gray after we sandblasted the surface. Time to ride.
DP wish I could of seen you rip.
Santa Cruz Skatepark more contrast to the wave project.

At 1:36 where Duane Peters is skating and gets big cheers-- one of his wheels came off and DP still hit two more walls skating on three wheels!
Definitely click the link to watch this video in "high quality"-- for some reason the video is grainy. http://www.youtube.com/user/SessionsVids

Here's a video someone posted Friday of pros in the Lake Cunningham skull bowl. The skater with dreads is Nilton Neves from Brazil.
Can't wait to see the actual contest videos from yesterday. It was awesome having a bowl-side view of it in person!
