I have a gravity 47" hypercarve and I just recently purchased a engine from Radrons.com. I want to make a motoboard and was wondering if there is a rwal difference in mounting the engine on the back or cutting a hole in the middle and mounting it there? I was leaning more towards mounting it in the middle just because it seems more compactand also Gravity has a motoboard set up like that. If anyone has suggestions or schematics please email.-

I want to make a new longboard but I don't have much of a clue on how
to make them.I would appreciate it if you could tell me what kind of wood I should use
and how I should go about constructing the board if i weigh 10 stone and i want to do highspeed cruising

Right now, Im making one out of 5-ply wood. I'm using polyurethan also, to prevent cracking and to seal it. This is my first longboard (Ive had a few shortboards). Is 215mm a fairly nice sized truck, or will I need a wider one, and do smaller wheels carve better than big ones? Thanx.

Wear shoes of you want. The only people who don't wear shoes are wacko old guys down at the beach! My poor feet are too tender for that crap. Anyway, that amount of sag seems good because a lot of people seem to like that much sag (I don't do "flex" myself, but hey, people like some strange stuff). Longboards don't turn as well as shortboards, so learn to drop knee turn to get super-tight tow turns, and for better turning for everything, get some longboard trucks like eXkates or Randal 2.

hey guys, i need som advise. I just built my first long
board and its the Sh**.I made it by biscut jointing some
mahogony (sp?) and pelowan (sp?) my first problem is i need
to know how much flex to give the board, right now when i
stand on it, it will flex 1.5- 2inches. seccond, it turns
like a semi truck and im wondering if there are any ways to
make it turn faster. should wear shoes? or would that be
like blasphemy. cuz ive been trying to build up my callesses
but its slow going. id appreciate any emails i get with advise
on how to make "woody" (my board) and my stylin. later

SORRY TO BORE EVERYONE, BUT I HAVE ALSO MADE MYSELF WRAPS WHICH VELCRO ON TO MY WHEELS. THEY HAVE A COPPER COIL IN THEM WHICH HEATS UP TO AROUND 100 DEGREES. I USE THEM BEFORE RACING TO WARM THE WHEELS AND THE UNIT PLUGS INTO MY CAR CIGARETTE LIGHTER. INTERESTED? IF SO I CAN MAKE MORE.

I HAVE IN MY POSSESSION ABOUT 40 KILOS OF PVC IN ITS RAW STATE. IT MELTS AT AROUND 200 DEGREES WHICH CAN BE ACHIEVED ON A REGULAR STOVE. IT LOOKS LIKE CLEAR RICE AND IS PERFECT FOR MAKING WHEELS. SIMPLY MELT IT DOWN AND POUR IT INTO A MOULD (I.E BOTTOM OF A BEER CAN!) I AM CURRENTLY WORKING ON A TRANSLUCENT DYE TO COLOUR THEM AND A SAFETY INSTRUCTION SHEET. I WILL SOON BE IN A POSITION TO SELL IT CHEAP SO MAIL ME IF YOU ARE INTERESTED.

hey everybody. I wasn't sure which section to put this in, but I'll leave it here for now. Anyway, my friend and I are trying to start a new company for longboards. We call it Karma. We are still working on all the little details, but the boards are starting to look good. I hand paint each board with graffitti designs and cartoons. Use a water ski. They don't give the best performance but the look cool. Use the front of the ski (the part that turns upward) as the tail. And if the fin screws in, unscrew it from the bottom and put it on top, its looks crazy. Anyone wants to email me then go ahead.

I made a board out of poplar and it cracked, just like in a previous post. I was laying into a carve really loading the left side of the board when it cracked down the truck mounting holes the entire length of the board. The wood was 3/4" thick and 9.5" wide. I'm not sure about the wheelbase, but the deck measured 43" overall.
My next board won't be a solid piece of wood. I may make a vertical laminate like the old Sims Supelights or just buy a Fiberflex.

I just finished shaping a board in my shop class. But I have a problem. IT'S TOO THIN! I'm thinking it could work though with the right finish. Does anybody have a suggestion? I'm thinkin epoxy or resin. well mail me if you have an opinion.

I was using 3/4 inch at 4 feet and 33 inch wheelbase. The board was just wood 8 in. wide from home depot without stringers. It cracked from the truckhole. I would suggest gluing a piece of 1/8 ply bigger than the truck to the board to eliminate the cracks. The grain should run perpindicular to the board. Poplar is great until it is abused. Something to try rather than deckskin might be neoprene rubber used to line waterski boots. I have been trying to locate some.

Hey what's up, I'm looking for any advice I can get. I just started building longboards. My catch, is that i am an artist and I do some crazy designs. Anyway, for my prototypes, I'm using thin wood (regular ply) in a standard longboard shape. I'm coating it with a fiberglass epoxy. I haven't decided on what trucks I am going to use yet. I want performancwe, but I am trying to keep the costs down. I like the randalls, but they are expensive. Does anybody out there know a good suply catalog. I need bulk griptape, wheels, trucks...everything. The boards are 10" wide and 48" long. Give me an e-mail if anybody knows anything. ALso, I want to eventually start using maple, but again, the costs are high. I live in NYC, so if anybody out there know a cheap place to get 8 or 9 ply maple, let me know. Thanks.
