Some friends and I have been riding for about a year now and we want to start making some longboards. We have a lot of money so just tell us what we need to buy and tell us how to make a good board. Thanks for any information, Matthew et al.

Is anyone out there making longboards that are composites? You know, fiberglass, wood, honeycomb, etc. It seems like a snowboard co. could make an interesting board...light, long, snappy, rubber rails, etc. If you know of anyone experimenting wiht this, please let me know.

We have just launched a new site dedicated to building your own longboards. After a lot of experimenting with different woods and setups, we have several longboard templates that help you cut your own shape. You can find the site at http://www.mjbdesign.com. If you pick up a template, be sure to send us photos of the finished product and we may post them on the page. This forum has always been an inspiration to us and has helped our company see the light of day. A hearty shaka to everyone who takes the time to cut their own decks.

More for the Web Master than anything, but given the amount of questions regarding wood type, bending wood and general 'how do I do this?' questions on this page it might me a nice idea to devote a page on this site (or someone elses) on various hints and tips on longboard (or normal board for that matter) manufacture.
I'd love to set one up myself, but dont have the woodworking knowledge. I do tho' have a site available to me, so if anyone wants to send me info i'll get a site up and running within a few weeks.
Whaddaya say all. Any experienced woodworkers out there want to lend us all a hand?

I make longboards and can duplicate almost any brand. If you need help or info come to me. I also make custom boards made to order, from downhill to offroad. Or if you just want a good board that handles well I'm the guy to talk to.

I'm just starting to sell my own boards here in Cocoa Beach, FL. I use 9 ply Baltic Birch, imported from Russia. Each board has a hand painted belly, with sanded rails like a classic Dewey.E-mail me if you would like to sell me a good amount of trucks, or riser pads at discount. BUYERS, feel free to contact me too.

I would like to build my own boards, but I do not know how to laminate and bend the wood. Does anyone know of a good wood working book that covers: laminating, bending and warping wood? or could someone instruct me in the techniques?
I know these questions are frequently asked on this bulletin board, but the answers are not posted (or maybe the questions are never answered). Does anyone know of an existing FAQ that exists on the net pertaining to this subject.
Thanks, Joe Clement

Hey Robert, don't give up so easily mate. Just 'cos your first board snapped doesn't mean they all will/do! Try again perhaps. Loadsa people here seem to have figured out that making one is both fun, and fulfilling. Ain't nothing like riding your own ride!

This is a follow up to my previous entry. After I had made my board I ended up spending about $110. About two months later my board snapped when I was doing some grinds. By the way my board was made out of maple wich is very strong. After all that time of sitting and not riding I decided to buy my own board, I bought a Flexdex pro which is the coolest board out there. i would recomend that everyone should buy a board rather than make one because it will save you time and money. I am also wandering if anyone offers some longboarding camps in northern California. If so let me know.

Are there any standards for the distancing between trucks based on the axle length of the truck itself? Any comments would be helpful.

Wicked Ride. an old Cypress Gardens Mustang ski, 4' long, 9" wide. Built in Pine racing stripes in a teak deck. Tall spacers keep my tall Golden State rubber from burning my paint. runs like Carl Lewis, carves like Yan Can Cook. thanks, NCDSA!! :-)>
