Hey, My bro crafted a swallowtailed longboard out of 7-ply hardwood. It's pretty sweet. I (being the exceptional artist) painted a weel-endowed anime chick on an american flag background with the quote "God bless America" on it. He bought some indepentent trucks and Gravity wheels. It's an all around nice first home made board, (the turning needs work). I skate a tahoe 42" tahoma. It's my first longboard, but i've been surfing for a while, and i gotta tell ya' this sport rocks! -mo

looking for a way to put a CLEAR GRIP SURFACE on your board? just coat it a few times with poly urethane then add another coat, sprinkle on some sillica sand (you can get it at a hardware store) let it dry, then add a couple more coats..that simple. any questions...email me

Dude check out the DeckSkin review on Souled Out. Its all true. The stuff is a little more costly than grip tape but its more than worth it. The only way I can describe it is its like (but not really) neopream (sp?). Its way soft and velvety. Get some.

Johnny Retro:
How about some more details into this marvelous invention? How does pulling *up* on a rope make the tail go *down*? What keeps the tail from falling down and dragging when you're not pulling the rope?? And just how well does an inline skate brake stop a speeding longboard at 30+ MPH?

Well boys I finally did it... I built a board with a BRAKE!!! Yep, a BRAKE! See I'm a scoutmaster and have been teaching my Scouts how to longboard not to thrash and trash but to carve and cruise, anyway as we all know in the begining it is very easy to reach "terminal velosity" all to soon, so I needed a quick and easy way to slow down from warp one. Here's how I did it, I took a piece of 8"x 48" Birch ply and cut a basic classic shape, then I "hinged" the tail and put a roller-skate "stopper" on the bottom of the tail, hooked up a pull-cord and IT WORKS! Basically what happens is when you pull the rope the tail drops down and the stopper drags on the ground, the harder you pull the harder it drags...! I used one stopper in the middle of the rear so I can stop while turning! What do you think?! Take care keep riding...

Deckskin rules. it comes in a sheet just like grip tape, and I used a razor to cut off the excess. I have let all my friends try it and I had to beg Colin for more. Definite thumbs up.

Longboarder Louie, have you checked out Deckskin? This poop rules. Soft and buttery but not squishy. You can get Collin's email from Souled out and hell be more than happy to sell you some. It really is better than grip tape in ALL respects. Check it out soon.

I was hanging out at a friends pool yesterday and the non-skid diving board surface caught my eye. It struck me that this would make an excellent skate deck surface too! I don't know about you, but I hate the way my skid tape looks after about 2 weeks. It appears that it is a gel coat with crushed silica sand sprinkled in it. Does anyone out there know any more about this process? What do you think, would this be a viable alternative to skid tape?

I am currently designing a 60" X 13" deck on my CAD software. It has a classic longboard surfboard shape. I will be building it soon and will be selling plans for it after all testing of the shape and any mods to the design being needed are done. I will ony be charging what it costs to print and ship. If anyone would like an outline drawing of the basic shape or to be informed when I do get done, feel free to email me at mercerm@ridgecrest.ca.us ////// I am also playing around with the idea of a pintail. I will put in more time on it if anyone has any intrest in plans for one.///

I just finished restoring a tracker rocket. It is from the 70's and is a heck of a good board. I planed the hole thing down the bottem and sanded it to a smooth round shape. It is completely restored exept for the griptape so if any one had an idea of the value of this oldschool gem it would be epretiated.
Chris Harley- Keep it rollin'
P.S. this board was the first laminated line of decks. E-mail me with any info, thanks

I've just fished a proto for a downhill board. It's kinda like a Gravity shape. I made it out of 12 mm birch wood multiplex. This wood is quite flexible, strong and easy to handle. I must say I'm very pleased with the result. The ride is very smooth and with the Gillwing trucks it's possible to make very tight turns. Even a bit to tight for my Bones Bombers. I'll let you mofo's know when the real thing is finished and sent in a 1:1 scale AutoCAD drawing.
For questions or tips please mail me, Greetings from Da Lowlands, Da U-god

Hey Todcar ! Check out www.radical-sports.com They have some boards that might be interesting.Only downside here is the price. I once asked them for the price of the " Hybrid " board. It’s 229 Swiss Franks, which is about $150 US, for the deck alone. Plus it’s allot for shipping to the USA. But check it out for your self. Take it easy and happy skating !!!!!!!!
