K board
On 11/5/2001 Duane wrote in from (63.21.nnn.nnn)

Whoever's running that auction should post a correction calling into question the board's identification as a Krypto board. Could be an honest mistake on Paul's part, he said he's had the board unaltered since '79 but that fits with Arab's explanation. I just think a fiberglass board (74-76 likely) with ill-fitting die cut grip tape, and late '70's krypto sticker when krypto was making 10" foamcores, and new school pattern trucks holes, should fool no one. Besides, Paul replied that I obviously "didn't have much knowledge of So. Cal boards" that didn't sit real well so I aired it out here.

Krypto deck on ebay
On 11/5/2001 kirt wrote in from (168.103.nnn.nnn)

here is his response on the auction.

All I can tell ya is that the way it was manufactured (early/mid 70's fiberglass style), and with the Kryptonic logo labels both top & bottom, ( I'll send additional photos this afternoon) is that it is indeed a factory Kryptonic board. I assure you that in no way, shape, or form am I trying to fool anybody with this auction. For the price I'm hoping for, and based upon the bids thus far, it would NOT be worth my good eBay standing to try and pull something over on anybody, and it simply is not in my nature. To the best of my knowledge, it's a Kryptonic board. I appreciate your inquiry.
Regards,
Paul............

I'm not sure if this is a krypto. I've never seen another like it. I emailed the seller for specifics. Z-boycollector

Indys
On 11/4/2001 Duane wrote in from (63.21.nnn.nnn)

Pull into my garage today and what do I see ? The landlord's kid riding around on a pig board, they were cleaning up after a crazy tenant who left in the middle of the night. Looked like Bones wheels, caught my interest, and turned out to be 85A Bones Twos (64x57mm like minicubes), and, and...T-hanger Indys, 150mm wide. Now its mine. Is there any reference out there for Indys, ie stage one, two, etc. ???

Duane ,keepus posted on the venture! I too like soft bushins and have also noticed the quality of the extruded to be superior to molded! Where is this tubing you found?

Bushings
On 11/2/2001 Duane wrote in from (63.21.nnn.nnn)

The problem with most bushing is that they are molded, so weld lines where the material flows together are inevitable. I'm sure these are the weak spots where bushings split. Someone mentioned ACS bushings as being good, these look extruded in a long tube and cut, so no weld lines. I found a place on the web with urethane tubing, 3/8 hole 0.875 OD, should be perfect, 95, 90, 80, 70, 60A. I can't find bushings soft enough for my liking, so maybe I'll try a foot of the 80A tube, enough for at least 10 sets, height of my choice. Cleaned the Megatrons, M with six lines.

Megatrons
On 11/2/2001 Duane wrote in from (65.201.nnn.nnn)

I think your orange bushings are Megatrons. My old trackers have orange with fine lines, and the graphics are still crisp, looks like a stylized "=M=", I was wondering whether it might be a "W" at first. Sounds like the same bushings.

Megatron bushings
On 11/2/2001 Herbn wrote in from (205.188.nnn.nnn)

My mystery bushings could be Megatrons as well, just looked up an ad ,and the color seems right, but no graphic on the bushings in the ad.Megatron bushings were also real springy.I still can make industrial urithane bushings out of round stock 95a red 85a blue 75a green 65a(!) tan.

Pillz
On 11/2/2001 Herbn wrote in from (205.188.nnn.nnn)

WOW!,that little rememberence brought out a lot of post, just looked around and this board i traded a brand new Libtech longboard for,has a set of pills on it,i think. They're orange with a fine line graphic on the sides of the bushings that acts as a background to the main lettering, the large lettering is blurred,i remember yellow pills for sure , orange could be discolored yellow or maybe there were harder orange pills.I knew the original owner of this board,a grumpy guy who removed the graphic with acetone, because"if they ain't paying me,i'm not advertising for them",this is a mint ,orange, powell double beemer i'm talking about here, stage i indy 169's that have been under a set of grindmasters for 20+ years! I put my blue V-IV powell minicubics.Wow this should go in "vintage gear" gotta copy and paste, later

swap?
On 11/1/2001 Paul D. wrote in from (154.20.nnn.nnn)

I'm having a hard time finding old stuff around here (Montreal Que.).Stuff from the 70's and older are really hard to find because it was never big here back then. And buying off the net is not in the budget (I'm supporting 4 other people blah blah blah). So what I want to know is , is anyone interested in swapping stuff with me. I can't swap my old stuff ,don't have enough. But what I do have are some nice vertlam cruisers I make myself. For example, I can do stuff like the gravity 50" only all solid or something like the duke with nose and tail blocks.I'm working on a vertlam with a tail cut from solid stock, not a glue up. Custom boards is not a problem. I've never made two the same anyway.

Now Hugh. Steve is being such a great guy and offering me a set of Gully's to get me back into the action. And here you are offering them out from under my nose.

For shame...........

I may take you up on that Steve. I was hasty in my decision to sell my gear, and those trucks are part of the reason I was psyched again.

I didn't sell the OJ's though Steve. I do have some sense left after crackin my noggin. Thanks. Your wheels come in?

And Hugh..........Checks in the mail.[dirty rat] hehehe

With Bobo having love in his life and a good reason to maintain proper working parts (arms and legs)... we could save a lot of time and a few dollars on postage by your just going ahead and selling those old trucks straight to me... HR
