Been awhile since I have been on the board. Looked in recent archives and did not see this discussion. Can these boards possibly be NOS?? I have serious doubts, the same guy puts up the same two Sims Boards. Why is it we see so many undrilled sims boards and no others?? When is the last time anyone saw a Sims Lonnie Toft undrilled and yet at any given time there are at least 2 of these boards for auctions. Has this been discussed on the board??

Deb,PLEASE,PLEASE,PRETTY PLEASE,bring back the D.M. Flying Aces!!!! This was one of The All Time Great Boards,a board you could ride anywhere, and was just absolutely the most fun for cruising.I would add that now that I'm a bit bigger, and bit older,I'd like to see sizes from 28",up to 34",just to give a tad more support for my,um,bulk.

Not too long ago, I put a 29" Double cutaway slalom re-issue on Ebay solely for an educational purpose to help collectors distinguish the new from the old. All the differences were pointed out, i.e larger gold sticker, etc. Its pretty easy to tell the difference, but I don't want the re-issues to devalue people's collections.

I don't think the being sold as "original" comes nto it now, particularly as all of the Re-issues are Black ( most of the original FF were coloured, but not all before you shoot me down)
but the Fibreflex Sticker is now slightly different ( the original G&S logo was gold, it is now White ) OK you could claim that somebody could replace the sticker...but have you seen how much an original sticker is on Ebay, plus i believe they are slightly different in size, so somebody with a little knowledge or bothered to do a little research would be able to distinguish a re-issue from an original
the kickturn site is a good reference

G&S Teamrider/Bowlrider

When I got back into skating 2 years ago, the first longboard I got was Fibreflex 44" Kicktail model. When news of the 38" Leemo Kicktail came out, I just had to have one. It was at this time I started emailing the folks at G&S asking if there was any chance of a re-issue of the Bowlrider (2nd version). That was about a year and a half ago. It was Debs who finally emailed me {after about 20 emails ;-) } to tell me she was interested in it and they were working on some new slalom models. Well and behold the Response along with the Cutaway and Classic slalom.
I have been emailing Debs every couple of months about my desires for a Bowlrider/Teamrider and she had, as already stated, said she was working on a newschool board but a B/T-rider could be in the works. I am amazed at the interest shown here and hopefully debs has seen it too.
While at La Costa, I got the chance to meets Debs, who by the way is a very sweet gal, and she had confided to me that the Teamrider was her favorite board. The problem was with the shape which would require a special mold.
About 6 months ago I had acquired a NOS Teamrider (1st version) which is almost identical to the Bowlrider (2nd version). This board is not too narrow as it`s about the same size as either Comet or Roe without any cut-outs.
In my previous emails over the year and a half with Debs, I had asked for a 32" model. Oerfect for oldschool cruising, bankriding or even a GS board. My current Teamrider (30") does flex under my mere 155# so there is alot of potential for this shape.
So to tidy this up, I have a strong feeling that a Teamrider/Bowrider shall be seen soon ;-)

Glen, Relic,Herbn T.Hawk, and anybody else who got a piece ofthe action while the wizards at CASTER(apparently originally a SURFBOARD manu(!!!)were still making street stuff, know EXACTLY what i'm talking about when i say there was a certain stability at speed, acertain balance on vert(if you have old skateBoarder magazines, dating back to when Hawk and Hosoi were still groms, you'll see BOTH of them riding That Thin White Deck to CASL glory.)I personally witnessed one of the greatest personal triumphs EVER,when a friend who had one (mounted with RED 60mm coreless kryptos(!) took it SIX FEET PLUS out of a nine-foot pool(and only realized it because he was looking me in the eyes on a frontside grab (i'm 6'4")and until that moment, he'd only ridden it outside his house,at some banks, and some DH slopestyle!!YEAH, you COULD say that it was a GOOD board.i'm DEEPLY In favor of ANYTHING that improves your chances against gravity.Too bad they didn't have enough money to compete against G&S,NHS and SIMS,'cause if you look at all the ripkids who were riding them, you'll find a BUNCH of PROS who wound up riding for companies that didn't produce boards that were nearly as good in terms of individual performance.(Sims had a shot at it,but didn't seem as concerned about the riders overall, even though they were the only ones to unleash "PROTOTYPES and EXPERIMENTALS"on the public.(makes you wonder what would have happened if Tom had decided to stay with slalom and vert.)

gee, it only went for $380. a long time ago on this very site i asked why no-one was making reissues. well i guess there is some profit here after all. Shogo's are sold out, Casters will be a very small run if i read e-bay correctly. i heard a rumor that Tracker is bring back the original fulltrack that would be nice. old skaters don't die, we got jobs. (we have to at these prices)

It's funny, i biult them from pictures, off this site.Guessing and approximating, folding the paper to get the angles close, there was one angle i missed because i didn't have a side view. There are two measurments that determine the trucks turning ratio(how much it's liened divided by how much it turns) I now own a set of originals and on the originals these measurements are,1.45/1.25=1.16,on my version it's 1.348/1.136=1.186 both ratios are over 1 so the truck will steer more than it's liened 1 is a Seismic,a little Sin Cos trig. would be needed to figure a Randal, and Indys and other skate trucks have secondary twisting factors that distort there geometry,no one seems to know EXACTLY what angle they turn on,i believe it's not even constant it's a variable angle.By the way my "missing angle",i've been told by an engineer, keeps the wheels carving concentric circles and is most important on short wheelbases.

Herbn, you have stated that your version of the Strokers turn really well, and I remember you saying you had to detune them to not turn so well. The originals, from what people like Henry Hester and others have said, didn't turn worth a damn. That's why they used them in the skatecars of the 70's. Have you been able to compare yours to an original set to see what the difference is?

They WERE a joke,i recall i was sort of fascinated by them at the time, not enough to put that many weeks of paper route savings into a special board and wheels that would have to go along with them. Only years later would i spend a few months and a couple hundred bucks in parts to not only recreate them but make sure they would continue to work, and not get wacky due to chinsy parts. The result is one(two actually) of a kind, i can tell you beyond a doubt that the strokers i made out perform ANY truck at under 20mph,they're not that heavy, low center of gravity,instant/perfect centering.Ok i guess performing is kind of a strong word, i havn't run them timed through cones, there could be some negative side effects to such incredibly responcive steering, traction through cones might be an issue, but they seem to work unreal,if the originals were half as good, they were(are)lightyears ahead.Marketing such a product is nearly impossible, the retail on new strokers would be mindboggling, not to mention marketing.

Those are the X-Caliber trucks. They were regarded as a total joke. They were expensive and heavy. I remember a set sitting at Val Surf for years. Along with the Rebounds, Strokers, and Philidelphia trucks. They are probably a good collector item being that they were pretty rare even in the mid 70's when they were made.
