On a previous post, it was said that the new slalom trucks won`t have split axles and will be improved on the original design......expect a different truck.
I`m hoping for a hanger with a long axle that can take speed rings and "tweek" them to your hearts desire.

I need some help. Can anyone tell me what issue of Skateboarder had a centerfold of Bobby Piercy riding a Z-flex with the caption "Bobby Piercy, enjoying a summer retreat at New Jersey's new Vernon Valley Skate Park. Photo: Glen Friedman"?
Thanks!

I reckon that they will do a good job, they may be pricey but if it was me I would bring out a range based on the split axle where just the Hangers are different sizes allowing for different setups but minimizing the production costs. They could use different materials but I would hope they would take the concept and move it up a gear, all terrain Split Axles, Titanium, Carbon Fibre? This would also ensure the originals would retain there value, which is I suspect a concern for some who have paid cheap car money for them.

Geez Herbn, you are a glass is half empty kinda guy aren't you? Let's all wait and see what Gullwing has to offer before the naysaying begins.
I for one think they have what it takes to deliver. All of their current gear is better than anything out there in terms of castings and hardware.
The glass is half full till it turns sour.

Herbn you're probably right, still be nice to have a look at them though, with the quality of many of the other trucks now I don't suppose they'll be any worse. I'd gladly pay double for a higher quality product , and here in the UK we already pay well over the odds if not purchased from the states ; example indy 101's $54 to $64 a pair.

I have a feeling that the new ones are gonna be an economized not all that cool design,The originals were a bit pricey ,and remaking them will cost, but i since gullwing is not a flegling company anymore and is making econotrucks all day, they're not gonna make special kingpins and special axles.I bet production reproductions of gulls would cost 45-60 bucks each retail, and a wide set throws more variable and unknowns into the equation. Didn't they have a "split axle" that looked just like a regular but had two seperate stubs cast into the hanger, anybody who thinks the new gull is gonna be anywhere near as cool as the original is set up for a disappointment,i'd like to see a REALLY cool set of downhill/slalom(wide/narrow) truck from gullwing but i'm not holding my breath, i'll draw them then make them,no cost cutting.

A friend has the new design and I'll bet that the slalom riders will probably dig.If not,the folks who are into vintage skate stuff might appreciate the new look.

Ricky, about those mags . . . I lose track of what they finally end up selling for on ebay (out of my nostalgic price range). It would be great if enough of us could pool together to keep the collection together. I ran across a site where someone had scanned in whole magazines (not skateboarder/maybe thrasher), not just the covers like Russ howell was it? I'd chip in a deck size chunk o cash or so to merely have access to the mags for a while . . . if enough people got together maybe we could keep a year for a year and send em around. Anyone else interested?

I typed this on vendors, for some reason the thread of discussion went this way, just after "copying" i lost my connection. So it's here now.I remember back then,1's were actually smaller than rr2's i don't think i saw any but 3's were exactly whay you would expect between rr2's and rr4's,powerflex 5's just a bit bigger than 4's and, i sure you get the idea but i'll finnish just to hear myself type, 7's were very roadrider 6ish, not many of those, those were/are probabely very rare. Powerflex 9's were just a more modern version,i don't think i liked the inconsistancy, i was waiting for a big wheel,it was one of those"coming soon" items in the magazines,i think powell had better hard urithanes by then, krpytonics too, so powerflex faded out.

These wheels used 0.5" ID / 1.125" OD bearings, like some Pacers and other british wheels. They used a unified sleeve / spacer similar to inlike skates, that had a roughly 8mm hole in the center to fit a standard axle. The bearings can be easily obtained from any industrial bearing supplier, they are common. The spacers are another matter, I have a set and no less than a dozen people have tried to make a deal for them over the years. The original bearings I have are marked "Genbearco"

O.K. heres the latest. As of yesterday my former co-worker let me know that the person with the Gullys has really considered giving him the whole box, and that means no cash out of my account. So far, so good, and I'm expecting to hear from him by Monday, so keep your fingers crossed. Stay Safe Skaters Preston

Skateboarder Mags

I have a large amount of Skateboarder Magazines that I am going to be putting up for auction either as a whole or spliting them up by year. I am doing this for a friend that is in need of some cash (tax seasons coming you know) so at this point I am not at liberty to sell singles. What he has is part of '77, I believe all of '78, '79, '80 & '81 and a couple of '82. I know he has the transition from Skateboarder to Action Now. The mags are in great shape, only two of three show signs of wear and some minor water damage on two due to a hot water heater leak in his attic years ago.
Would any of you have any comments on the value of these as well as how I should group them for sell, all or yearly groups.
Thanks for your help!

Just noticed the bit of web lashing ol'john oshea dealt me a while back, funny, real funny, spandex:)he he. I'm just really curious, what do you base the "suck" review on, personal experience? i havn't riden my originals;and i don't have the time to clue you in on my version,if you have never believed a thing i write, believe me on this; i never for one second considered the construction of these trucks a waste of time, probabely a 100 hrs spread out over a couple months, they are that good.Trying to convice you, that's a different story:)i don't know if a quick video clip attached to an e mail ,would do it.They do buzz/rattle, whatever;music to my ears.

I reckon they will fetch over $250,
