Tom, If you are in California the Surf Bum who sells skateboards in Orange County area has a new deck and a couple of beaters complete. He always has a table full of 70's skateboards for sale

Anyone got an original good shape Magnum complete thy want to unload? You know with the funky stealthy black trucks and the bannana jammer wheels with the hubs that need the special wrench. C'mon!

The great thing about Steven is that he let me ride one of his Z's around Watlington bowl last week. A true pleasure. Thanks, Michael

G&S Teamrider with NOS Halftrac's

I am looking for some wheels to go with my old (almost NOS) G&S Teamrider. Right now it is sporting a set of NOS Tracker Halftrac's. However, it is missing the appropriate wheels. I have been riding it with 92A Stingers but would like to have wheels from the same time period as the rest of this wonderful set-up. What would you guys suggest?
Thanks Gareth

Thanks for your kind words guys. Yeah, I do have a bunch more stuff but the site is focussing on my Z/DT related items. Still a board or 2 (including a hand shaped, drawn and painted board by Wes) to go up so check it out again soon.

Bennett decks

I remember the Bennett decks from the late 70s (Lightbeam and Spacedeck), which had the same shape as the Airlight shown. The old ones did have a kicktail, and according to the ad, the construction was "...Pro-Tuff Glass Belly Pan, Captive Airlight Core, Hardwood Rails, Urethane Pro-Coat..." Strange shape, with the tail being the widest part of the deck...

guys thanks for all the info on P.O.P both that and huntington beach must have been awesome places to skate in the 70s, alot more glamorous than where I was at the time, which was a place called cleethorpes on the east coast of England. we too had a drought around 76 but alas pools are in short supply in n east uk. downhill motion is one of my fave skate films & I look forward to seeing the new dogtown documentary. see ya ...paul

Worth a closer look.
Not sure what is meant by "Direct Drive" in the ad, which supposedly made them the "best turning, smothest riding truck ever built."
If I recall correctly, this was Bennett's last gasp for survival after the Bennett heyday of the mid-late '70's. But at a whopping $50 per pair (in 1986!!) it's easy to see why they didn't fly. Plus, by the mid-'80's it was ALL about ramps, and these don't seem like the best vert or grinding trucks.
By the way, check out the deck! I never saw one of these (at $60 bucks in 1986 dollars nobody I knew was rich enough to own one!), but it sure looks to me like there is NO KICKTAIL! Both pics show that. Anybody know anything about the Bennett Airlite deck?
I know one thing for sure: These things would go for a small fortune on eBay today!

The bank by the pier shown in "Downhill Motion" is at the Huntington Beach pier, about half an hour south of Santa Monica. The HB pier was one of the prime freestyle spots back in the early/mid 70s...
