DOOOOD!!! What makes you think I don't "apprreciate" the things I have and I need to give them up to someone who does? What's the point in copying an oak deck and pretending it's a legendary vintage ride. Nothing can compare to stepping on a mint 29" Logan Earth Ski with gold Gullwing splits, and a set of OJ's or white bones, or even yoyo's whatever...don't have any Road Riders. Yeah it's decadent and extravagant but it's the real thing and that's what makes me "appreciate" what I'm riding even more. I take care of the old stuff like it's a vintage car, but I ride it and just dig the hell out of it, and feel lucky I can afford to have all this cool old stuff. So here you go, here's what I'm riding on "old school days." All of this stuff is formerly NOS but not any more since I'm RIDING IT DAILY!!!!
1. 29" Peralta warp 2, gullwing splits, 70's white Bones 2. 29" Peralta warp tail, gullwing splits, 50/50 yoyo's 3. 29" Logan Earth Ski, gullwing phoenix, OJ's 4. 29" Santa Cruz 5 ply, gullwing splits, white yoyo's 5. 33" Sims Woodkick, gullwing splits, bones 6. 36" Sims oak kick, gullwing splits, street bones 7. 27" Peralta warp 2, tracker mids, red yoyo's 8. 27" Logan Earth Ski, gullwing phoenix, red bones
In storage to idolize and worship:
1. 33" Sims Woodkick (thanks Vinnie!) 2. 36" Sims oak kick (thanks Jack Smith) 3. 33" Peralta warp tail (really rare) 4. 29" Peralta warp 2 5. 29" Logan Earth Ski (Bruce Logan model) 6. TWO Turner Summer Ski needle noses one white medium and one red extra stiff (yup, made by Bobby). 7. Four sets NOS gullwing phoenix 8. Three sets NOS gullwing splits 9. Set of red yoyo's 10. Set of yellow yoyo's 11. Set of Sims Pure Juice 12. Three sets of Rat Bones (different colors)
And that's just the old school stuff, not to mention the nine slalom boards, six longboards (including Ed Economy) and three new school boards. Certainly a measly collection compared to many out there. All of this stuff, 70's and new stuff purchased since last July, all because I believe in supporting this industry whether it's vintage stuff, slalom or longboards. I've spent lots of cash because I ride it all daily and APPRECIATE it!!
C'mon bro this stuff was made for fun and pleasure!!

Is anyone familiar with California Sun skateboards? I had an all-fiberglass deck in the seventies, but I haven't seen anything on eBay or on the web about California Sun. They also made a wooden deck, and their griptape had the California Sun logo stenciled into it.
Any true equipment historians out there?

Tom, You can do as you please. I did not mean that last post as a threat. My preferences are that if a deck has survived 25+ years in NOS condition, it should continue for another 25.
I also appreciate the good ole ride aspect too but that can be accomplished by two ways....1) make a copy of an original or 2) buy a used one. You might even offer it up for someone else who would appreciate it`s NOS condition and they might have a used deck as part trade. Or check eBay for current value or another used one.
and Mr P., I like to think of skateboards as works of art or tools for an art to be performed. But then again, I grew up before the NASH era :-)

go to ebay and search "road rider wheels," occasionally you'll find some 6's. But perfect ones go for big money and you should not run them! Occasionally you'll find a decent used set for a good deal.
You should try the ABEC11 Flashbacks. GREAT longboard wheels.

SE, I don't know anything about that specific deck. Although, it looks extremely similar in construction to the Hobie Gregg Weaver Pro Models that were made around 1976-77. So much so, that I wonder if the same wood shop produced it(?) That time frame would be my guess. Damn good-lookin' board. I wouldn't ride it, though. :)

Creaky 70s Tunnel Road rider in midlife crisis (s#@!, is this midlife?) found my wonderful old longboard deck that I personally invented street luge on; found my old Trackers; found one Tracker axle; CAN'T FIND THE OTHER DAMNDED AXLE! Which isn't so bad bec. I can replace the trucks, but what am I gonna do with only 2 RR6s? Alternately: what should I run on it instead? Thanks.

I don't know, for me with the old stuff, the memory is far better than the reality. We have so much better equipment nowadays, the old stuff just isn't, well, that good anymore. Besides, I couldn't fit on my old 24" Bahne if my life depended on it. My 27" Bowlrider, maybe...hmmm, maybe I can find some NOS Fulltracks (or maybe Bennetts for the board I never had...nah!) and some red or yellow Yo-Yo's and see how it would ride these days LOL...

Yup, your are correct sir, since I've been riding some of my "former" new old stock boards they are now considered used. It's the best way to appreciate these great old boards man. Load up the trunk with five or six vintage rides and have a nice "retro ride" afternoon on some beautiful cement. I have to say, I am still slightly guilty of the "hide em" part though. After all, I'm not riding EVERYTHING I have.

OK look. I have two of these as well as a good few other NOS decks. I purposely bought this second one so as to ride it and enjoy it and not stare at it and worship it. Like I said I have another one identical to it that I can idolize. At some point I can't see myself getting any older and just staring at these things, better to ride them with care and not thrash them than just hoard them and worship them I think. It will be treated with the utmost respect and reverence....whatever...just another one to take out for a spin on "vintage retro ride day" for me. Jeez what'd ya think? I'm gonna go trick off of some broken glass and barbed wire on it....GEEEEEZZZZ!!! You really don't wanna know about my other NOS vintage boards, trucks and wheels that I'm riding on a daily basis. What better way to appreciate and respect these cool things than to use them for what they were intended...although a litte more carefully than any of my new stuff. Now the Road Riders I don't have, but maybe I had better look into that before I get beat up even more.
GEEEEEEZZZZZZ!!!!!
Since you do seem to know how I should drill this Scabs, I don't supose you wanna help do you?

Tom...STOP!!! Put the drill down! Walk away slowly and nobody gets hurt...
It is way too easy to replicate that board and much harder to replace. If you don`t appreciate the value of an NOS skate/art/object, put it up on eBay and let someone who will, get the chance.
Get a piece of cardboard and trace a template. Get a block for the tail and wood epoxy it on. Sand until smooth. Trace graphics first onto tracing paper and next onto smooth thin cardboard. Cut out with exacto knife and use as template to paint on replicated deck. It won`t look exactly the same but the ride will feel the same. ((please mark clearly with REPRO))

There's a set of magnesium sixtracks on eBay for $203, with the plastic plates. I just bought a set recently for $58 from oldschoolskates.com
The problem with ebay is that once you see prices like that, you can't justify skating on the gear anymore.
