Kirt: That's terrible I can't beleive you really put that classic deck into a shredder! That wasn't a leapord skin design, it was black spots on a pink background which is more like that of a Tyborian Sabercat. Ask Mondo he knows! and take a look at that logo, it doesn't say Alva its Awa...

It had some crappy wheels called Stradas on it. They were these big ass wheels. Who rides this crap? I tried a 50/50 grind to a rail slide. The board just cracked more.

Sorry, Bob, sounds like you crapped-out this time (to use a gambling reference). Neither of your garage sale boards sound much like "keepers", but keep your eyes open for these type of finds. In this case, you didn't hit the jackpot, but you should definitely keep trying. You never know when you're going to stumble on a real gem.

Hey Turd Ferguson: What do you mean you can't ollie a Turner? You just have to use a different technique. Unlike doublekicked skateboards you can't rely on your front foot to travel forward to level your flight. Instead on cambered boards what you do is combine a small pump and pop the deck up with what there is of the tail during the unweight of the pump. Now when your board starts to get vertical use your rear foot to drag accross the rear to mid section of the deck to level it off at the same time tucking in your legs as you should be in mid flight. During mid flight you can grab the deck or tweak the flight to your desire remembering that in order to land you want to place your feet over the trucks and absorb as much of the impact as possible (this is where you could have gone wrong). Practice this with the more disposable off the shelf slalom decks and when you have perfected the landing you will be ready to do it flawlessly on any Turner you can acquire.
Get serious.

WHile shopping the yard sales looking for a banana seat for my gravity bike project, I saw these 2 old skateboards sitting in the grass next to this guys stuff. They looked old and an interesting so I asked him how much...he said " AHHH dont know my kid went off to college a million years ago and left this sh.. behind. It's out a here. How does a buck a piece sound?" Boy was I happy even if these boards arent worth a plug nickel.
DOnt know how to post a pict here so I will describe them. Please let me know if you know what they are and if they are worth anything at all or did I buy $2. of junk.
Board #1:
no label or engravings at all.
flat and shaped like a surfboard.
23x5-1/2 inches,
transparent dark blue plexiglass or acrylic,
no name tiny ass trucks 1-3/4 hangers,
red w/white raised letters supergrip sport fun wheels,
front wheels narrower than the rear wheels.
loose ball bearings.
Board #2
Variflex 28"x7" plywood deck w/kicktail and wheel relief cutouts on the bottom,
noname trucks, 3" hangers,
red SIMS "Snake" wheels
Both boards are in good shape (garage bumps and dirt) but could use fresh bushings and pivot cups (if they came with them).
Please let me knowe if you know.

Sure, Turd...and a friend of mine gave me some big deck called "Shogo Kubo" and I tossed it in the fireplace 'cuz it didn't have any concave. Oh, yeah...I used some wierd "Stoker" trucks as fishing weights because I couldn't grind them.

I got this strange looking thingy made of surfboard stuff from a friend. I thought it was really stoopid lookin'. Who ever heard of a skateboard that wasn't wood and didn't have two kicktails! It didn't even have cool graphics and stuff. I tried to do an ollie off a picnic table with it and it cracked. I threw it in the trash. What a piece of crap. I wouldn't buy these boards if I saw them on ebay and stuff.

Wayne Brown Boards

There were several Wayne Brown Boards in my neighborhood in '75-'76. Every Wayne Brown I ever saw was notable for two particular qualities. They were relatively thick, solid fibreglas boards, with the weave of the fibreglas cloth being very apparent on the top surface of the board, and they all had a semi-psychedelic scheme of paint or colored ink splashed across the cloth, before final finishing. In fact, I don't think I ever saw any Wayne Brown longer than 24", which may be why it seemed so thick. I owned (and still own) a Bunger kicktail, which was very similar to the Wayne Browns, but longer, thinner and mushier. Bunger seemed to use the same process of "decorating" the top surface of the board. I'll take a picture of my Bunger, so you can see what I'm talking about. Hugh, the impression I got of your blue board is of a board that is a pressed fibre product, more like the Bahne or Hobie I mentioned earlier (with the stripes). Am I mistaken?

Hugh I remember it as a wayne brown I beleive he made surf boards I wonder if the warranty is still good. it currently has xcaliber and small loose ball power paws for grip it has the trimmings of my 8 wheeler grip from over 20 years ago!

There's a "logan fiberglass" nah ,it says logan on the kids shirt who's rendered on the glass top,was just a "coincidense" not a logan just an old scam,probabely worth bucks anyway. There's a board "with roadriders" ,to dark,"has a roadrider sticker on board", does not make them roadriders ,they look familiar,they are vintage,maybe tunnels,also there are red UFO's i need to check but i thought all ufos were that blue green color like the ones on my hobie.Jay Adams "pig shape" reissue 3 or 4 years old, something like that,not vintage, as in really old.

Steve Marsala is the owner of the Bahne, and it's hard to imagine Steve getting "miffed" about much of anything. Anyway, there was another semi-dark blue, fibrous sheet board produced by Hobie. I believe it had a multi-colored "racing" stripe on the top and, possibly, a Hobie logo on the bottom. If these markings were gone, this sheet of fibregals might be virtually indistinguishable from the Bahne boards and many other hardened fibre boards of the day.

Hugh, Is it drilled in the standard 4 hole config. or the three??? I do remember orange/yellow as well as light blue Bahnes! A youngster at the Gathering had a Yellow Bahne, He kept refering to this un seen board as a "BONN" when Isaw it I informed him of the pronounciation he was miffed!! Remember the pressed metal trucks they had?

No... wasn't a sims... might be a bahne or similiar deck... it's been almost 30 years since I've seen that deck. I do remember that it had a 100% replacement guarantee against breakage... about 24" long 5" or so wide... they made an orange one too... HR
