Mike that is a cool idea. You could include different drills on how to improve your pump as well. Discuss wheelbases, different set-ups. I would definately buy one. Eddy Texas Outlaws.

Mike, Dude, I would definitely be interested in a video. It would be cool if it had a section on board set-up for the different slalom disciplines (bushings, wheels, wheel base, etc.) I guess it could get a little too technical but for us newbies I think it would be helpful.
Once you get it put together we would be glad to post a link on our website (to be up soon) on how to get it! The DownHill Billies are all about sharing the stoke and information!

Hey Mike,
I think that's a great idea!
You should do some reasearch first on all the other "How To" videos out there so you can make one better.

Yeah, Mike we are actually in the midst of working on a series. We can chat if you want to.
Glad to see that potential if getting it's reward.

I just saw your post on the slalom forum. I think a video would be a pretty good idea. I know of one specific instance where a buddy who lives out of town asked me how to pump. I tried and tried to explain to step by step without actually being there and ended up shooting a small digital vid and emailing it to him. Having a ready-made video to tell him about would've been invaluable!

Wahl, thanks...I'm aiming for Europe right now...watch out.
PD, I'll call ya...a little later today
Joe, I'll get my info straight in my head and spill. But, right now all I can say is, I'm not sure what happened or didn't happen. The Skaterbuilt board I rode was stiff, stiff, stiff...not the flex Ick I usually ride. I think flex might have helped in the bottom section of the course, especially when I got a headwind and needed to generate additional speed. The stiff board definately goes where you point it and pumps with no hesitation, I just don't know...I know I saw people generating more speed on flex boards then I was but then again I saw some of those guys blow out of the course because they were going to fast. I just don't know right now. I've got to think it over some more and get back to you.

C'mon Mike,
Spill. Whats up with the Skaterbuilt decks. Relate it to what we know. Ick, Pistol, etc. Help us compare and contrast so we can break off into individual disscusion groups.
Congrats on Pump Jam,
Joe

Congrats on the win Mike. Hegstrom told me you left some DNA in the ditch just days before the slalom race. It that didn't stop you, then all you have to worry about is Luca in your future.

Wheels duro front+back?

My preference is this...'TS' I ride 84a front and back...'S' I ride 84a front 80a back...'GS' I ride 80a front and back...
I know some folks use 80a in back and 90a in front, but I wouldn't recommend it. I prefer to have as much traction as possible. I tend to push my turns hard enough to slide 80a wheels even in front. If they work for you though, by all means let 'er fly! I say try anything and everything, report your findings here...or if you discover the magic set up you might want to keep it to yourself for a while before giving away too much info.

I have been using 5-7a duro harder for front wheels. What do you think of going 10a harder up front than back? I never seem to slide my front wheels.

I've gone about 45 mph on my downhill board, which to most 'real' downhillers is relatively slow. I know guys that have gone 65-70 mph. I've probably gone about 40 mph on a slalom board.
Average speed, I would say, depends on the course...I prefer to go around 20-30 mph in slalom.

Looking for a ride to San Diago or near by. I want to go to the next pump station race on the 17 of this month. If you are heading down to race or just going near that area and can give me a ride, send me a email, i have a place to stay in Carlsbad or else wear, will help with gas and other traveling goodies MJ
