I wedge the front fairly steep and wedge the back slightly. All my turn comes from the front while the back just trails.
I will do my best to take home some Euros (the money that is)

Hey Mike... are you wedging your front Rad or going flat? How about the Prof? As for that matter how about the rear offset? Flat or wedge?
Hope you just plain destroy the field in Stockholm bro!

What were you riding? I was riding my CK GS at 22.5 inner hole to inner hole, Radikal front, Splitfire rear, wheels varied from Manx to 3dm in 80a-84a.
I think my fastest times we logged while riding Manx 82a in front with 3Dm Avalon 80a in the rear. It's seems to be a good combo...so good that even the Professor switched to it and pulled down a 4th place! Beating some of the best contemporary GS racers. Way to kick ass Evo.
Watch out Stockholm, Evo is on the plane!!!

No lycra for this kid...not again...I tried it once and am over it.

I can't remember for sure, but I think it's the GS board I've been riding. I've got different wheels on it now, different stickers and different rear truck...but other than that, it's the same. : )

Funny thing about wheels.
I used a variety of wheels yesterday. I started on 3Dm Avalons around in the 80a duro. I was noticing everyone riding Manx and since I've had good luck on that hill with Manx, I switched out my wheels. I rode Manx 84a around on one of my runs and blew out of the course. They rolled really fast but didn't grip up like I wanted. I switched back to 3Dm on the rear in 80a and left the 82a Manx in front. I think my fastest runs were on this wheel combo. As the day went on, I (along with everyone else) was trying to squeeze every little bit outta that course they could. I ended up riding 3Dm 80as all around by the end of the race.
My conclusion...Manx seems to roll faster, but don't grip quite as well as 3Dm, in that course anyway. Manx feel faster but if a wheel is sliding, you're scrubbing valuable speed and in that course...speed was very tough to find. I think each wheel has a good application and it's still a work in progress for me. I've had good races on both kinds of wheels. I'm just now starting to understand instances when Manx work better as well as instances when 3Dm work better. 3Dm seem to roll a little slower, but if slower translates to no loss of traction and ability to pump harder...I think the choice is obvious. Manx roll faster but don't seem to grip as well (on that course) so speed was compromised...
understand though, that this is very unscientific. Maysey is only a pawn in the game of life.

MM rules! I'd say that Maysey has been winning because of the Skaterbuilt ConeKiller GS he's been riding...BUT, Mike can pretty much SMOKE everyone riding a 2 x 4 and flinstone wheels...I know he is really liking the stiffness of his Skaterbuilt GS deck...hey Mike, tell us how the 3DM's compared to Manx wheels...is there any real difference between them? Can you tell?
Better get that ring-finger sized up-so you can collect your SkullRing when you win the PumpStation Series! Yeah Mike!

Mike,
Way to go. What were you riding?
Anything in particular you would attribute your recent success to? Just seems like you're kicking more ass than you did last year. Did you clean your bearings? Lycra?

What a TRIP! Two all nighters in 4 days, 3 days of solid skating, eating, drinking, etc. I think I've finally recovered. Getting ready to race day after tomorrow at the PlumpStation. Can't wait...I love that hill. Anyway, props to Lange, that man deserved the $2000...holy crap. Hopefully he doesn't need it to fix the damage he inflicted to himself!! Carmel Ditch was way less inviting that Indian School, but you do what you have to do when the Open Space Police respond to a 'call.' The coolest part was the rake marks on the ditch surface that made high-speed turns sound very cool. Carmel Ditch might be less inviting that Indian School, but that's only because Indian School is such a perfect ditch. Carmel is still better than any ditch I've ever skated in Cali.
The Bear...I'm not saying anything else. Well, other than this...I was friggin' freaked when I saw that thing. My gosh...
fun, fun, fun...Can't wait to do it again next year. I'll be jumping on Southwest Airlines next year though. I'm gonna leave the 12+ hour drive to the young folks.
Skate on

Mike,
Good luck and have fun in God's Land O Ditches. Take my advice: do everything the locals are doing -- factor in whatever Hackett is riding -- then rage!
Wear your pads!
