Mike,
Could you do us wannabees a favor and give us a breakdown on what you ran at pumpststion and why? I learn more here than any BS ads I could read. BTW is that a Radikal rear or a Splitfire? I know, I just showed what I don't know.
Hey and say hello to Evans for me.

Yeah mike you should have been there. I tried geting a hold of you at the last minute. Jimmy flint needed someone to roll with him up there and back so he didnt have to drive solo...gas paid too! oh well.
And david...yeah you took me out into the hay. but what ever...like you said...all good and fun. And for the record... "acording to me" you slamed tring to make a pass and took me out in the process...pretty lame way to take a win. but I know for a fact if I ever race you again it wont go down like that. good luck in europe, just dont take anyone out...its not very nice.

Is there anybody out there?
This isn't slalom related but I saw the most kick ass show last night at the House of Blues on Sunset in Hollywood last night...Bad Religion is still kicking major ass after all these years. I gotta say, there's something about going to a concert where you can scream the words to nearly every song along with the entire crowd. It was a great time...my ears are still ringing.
Anyone skating out there? I know I've been on it...in preparation for Stockholm...planning to peak for this summer over there.

Mike-
I sold all of my boards except for my 2 ICKS and got new trucks (splitfires) for the ICKS and also a Skaterbuilt CK GS, the same sled youve been killing it on the past couple of races. I hope Skaterbuilt Dave reads this too because the ConeKiller is one sick deck, and I absolutely love it... i think dave would like hearing that his board makes the average mid pack racer like me happy along with super awesome pros such as yourself. I hope everything is going well for you and if my school schedule in Copenhagen works out, I'll see you in Stockholm!

thanks mike, makes sense. i tried the tictac thing this lunch and could see what you mean, arms naturally fell to the front. i'd been trying swinging on the slalom before but my back arm stayed back, tried like that tictacking and it did'nt work as well. will give it a go on the slalom board tonight.

Video tape your sessions...it's helped me tremendously this summer...you can tell by my recent results. Pay attention to what your set up is and how you can make it better.

one more thing...
you'll start to notice some things right away. One of them is this...you won't be able to or want to use the same motions for TS and GS. You'll probably use more arm and hip in GS while in TS, you'll use less arm and hip. Make sense?

'do you have any advice about learning/training to use your arms effectively?'
Do you know what tic-tacing is? Get on a park board and If you do, you'll understand the way you sort of swing from side to side as you guide your board back and forth to try and generate speed. You can do this and make it more effective by swinging your arms along with your board tic-tacing back and forth. As you go faster, your arms might tend to get wider. I would, at that point, suggest you consciously bend your arms at the elbow and keep your hands in front of you as you tic-tac along. Once you get the feeling, you'll understand what I mean. Get on your slalom board and keep your front wheels on the ground but use that same sway motion you used on the park board while tic tacing and translate that to your slalom board while keeping your wheels on the ground.
'whats the best technique, when i look at the worlds dvds there seems to be some varying styles?'
There are many styles. I don't think any one of them is 'best.' I think it comes down to what's comfortable to you. You'll figure it out with time. You'll begin to gravitate toward a style to fits. Then once you figure that out, and are comfortable, you can probably make changes.
