The pusher race in Feb

The pusher race in February is only 4 miles if you go DIRECTLY from the start to the finish.
Josh's plans are to go INDIRECTLY 31 blocks out of the way, in order to make the race longer (much longer) than 4 miles.
If it were a 4-mile push, I'd be in.
You won't get an exact route from Josh, it is supposed to be a surprise route on the day of the race.

There were 2 races at Mt. Tabor this year. The SGS was in the rain! There will be another one no later than March - rain or shine.

Mt. Tabor would be a great place for the GS if the course starts at the gate. Maybe have separate A and B groups so the B group can start at the usual spot. Those who run the SGS/Death Race course could start at the gate with a ramp. It might delay the slide comp a little, but it would be more fun for the locals.

State Games: Salem and Mt Tabor?

It might be possible to get Mt Tabor for the GS and slide competition, then Salem for the 100-cone and the Hybrid (one day at each site).
Would you be in favor of this, or do you prefer the whole event at Salem?
Note: Mt Tabor is a park in Portland that has a steeper, longer hill available, but the pavement is not as good as Salem's Soap Box Derby Hill.

Hey Malcom, glad to hear you got a fatter tail :)
There has been a TON of garage sessions going on lately, and at much better ones than the one i took you to. They havent been planned to far in advance, but if you check NorthwestLongboarding.com you can usually find one or two a week.
I would love to come out and do some slalom with the CSA crew! I think we found a pretty sweet hill in Issaquah for a GS or SGS course. A steep bike path next to the freeway, and i dont think it gets much use. Also a pretty fun run, from the top of Dennis's Neighborhood (Issaquah Highlands) all the way to old town Issaquah (bars). It takes about 40 minutes and top speed is around 35.
See you guys soon!

Hey, I really don't have anything real to say, but I felt like I should say something, even though I don't really have anything to report. OK, so like, that's about it for now, but if I do come up with anything worthwhile, you all will be the first to know about it.
OK, so now that I think about it, I did finally get my new commuter bike together, it's an old Trek 520 frame, 700cm wheels(700cm x 32cm, 95psi), new gears, new style back hub, front hub generator/dynamo built into the wheel, and cargo racks and fenders front and back and a really nice kickstand. It's "the ticket" for those 13 mile commutes to work and back. Dang glad I did it.
OK, so I guess that's really all I have to say for now, so any news and I'll post it right here. It's a promise. - P

hi everyone. its been a while. if anyones planning a seattle slalom sesh in a garage or something this winter id love to come down. ive been working harder at school than i ever have in my life but its paying off, and after my exam tonight i will have a month or more of chill time before it gets back into the hecticness so we should have a skate! as for the oregon state games, i think that start ramps are a great idea as it would make the double lane racing more fair. count me in on this race i had a blast last year. i got my gog hanger replaced by those guys and threw it on my axe3 with a matching rear, rides like a charm. i also replaced my old roe with a fullbagg junk in the trunk, nothing against roe but i needed a fatter tail, the varying wheelbases are also right up my alley. so whats been going on in the world of CSA?

Pat- If you want to do a slide comp, I would be more than happy to help. We slide comps regularly and can help you with hill choices and everything that goes with it. I am sure Gravity would be down with sponsorship and schwag. Also, the key to a slide comp is getting the right judges. I am sure I can help you with that, also. Let me know if we can help. Can't wait for the OSG. Thanks Pat, Lance

Sheesh, if you had told me, this time last year, that I would be craving skateboarding I'd have put your head in a snowdrift. Wow how things change.
News from Spokane - We're actively looking for a nice, dry parking garage to do some cyber in. We're totally jazzed to host another event next year and it's occupying my mind far more than skiing or snowboarding.
I've discovered another covert instigator in my classroom, should have known with the remote controlled whoopie cushion that had me laughing all through class the other day.
Hugs to everyone - I miss you guys lots. Pat, really looking forward to Games 2008, thanks for all your hard work. If you need some help, just holler and we'll lend a hand. Judy

The soap box hill would be little to slow but might work for a smaller sesh. Something a little steeper would be ideal. Most slide comps are judged by style, difficulty and execution, but additonal smaller contests like longest slide or longest manual are always fun.

I've never seen a slide comp. Would the Salem Soap Box Derby hill be adequate for this? Can someone step up and help me describe and judge a slide comp?
Would it be judged by style, or an objective distance type thing?

Pat,
A slide comp would be rad and possibly give a whole different demographic a better reason to attend and possible compete in a Slalom comp. Maybe even have a small discount if someone wants to do both. I can think of a number of people that would be down with that.
