Barefoot Ted, new World Record -- 242 miles in the Ultraskate IV

Barefoot Ted smashed my previous 208 record with a total of 242 miles in 24 hours!! The dude is inspiring. I rode only the first 100 miles on this one, on the big trail, and when we got up to Greenlake, we were still a half hour or more ahead of Ted at that time -- I spent the rest of the 14 hours as support crew. Ted was pacing fast and strong all the way through the next day's sunrise. He's bumped this game up a notch, and I'm learning tons from the guy!
On top of that, Eric Lowell from Texas hit 187, Keith and Nat from the UK made 150, and a few others broke 100. Many set their personal best, it was a rush to see the crowd at Greenlake, get phone calls from Trevor in Denver, see a play-by-play posted on the San Diego rider on the Fish, and texts from the UK.
Lot more details are up on the pavedwave forum here http://pavedwave.myfastforum.org/ftopic68-0-asc-10.php
and Ted's blog here

Everyone owes Ron a big round of gratutude for "taking one for the team". Ron steadfastly circled cones with colored construction crayons that he rubbed two finger tips raw on the asphalt and raised and ruptured a blister on a finger holding the wax marking utensile. Ron may or may not be able to show up for financial/work reasons and helped out for about 6 hours. That's all I have to say for now. Unless I same more later. But that would make it "later", not "now, I guess. OK, so that aboat wraps it up.
State Games, It should be a fun time for everyone. Schlater - P

Paul, Ron, and I set courses on Monday:
Dual Hybrid (mirrored courses) -- red cone circles. 100-cone straight 6.5' -- blue cone circles, left lane. 80-cone straight 8.0' -- blue cone circles, right lane. Single Lane GS -- Yellow cone circles. Slalomcross -- Green cone circles, green dots with red circles.
These are some great courses Paul has set. The weather is supposed to be cooler than our normal 100-degrees that we have experienced in past years.

Ramp saga ....

Original plan was to have some mellower ramps for the Oregon State Games. But the cost is too high to build new ramps.
So now the plan is to have our standard ramps. They are located in Hood River right now (Brian Carlstrom).
I can go get them if I have to, but I'm wondering if anyone else could pick them up on the way to the race, or perhaps if you have plans to be going to Hood River and back soon.
I'll assume I have to go get them unless I hear from a volunteer...

Patrick, take care & heal fast.
Pauliwog, I spoke too soon about having room for you at Motel 6. I have to work the weekend of the Oregon State Games, so I won't be able to make it.
Pat Chewning, can you remove my name from OSG sign-up sheet??
See ya'll in Morro Bay. Skate safe.

Thank you for all the birthday posts, you all are the BEST! My bday was lovely. I spent it with MH and a bunch of really snooty, too smart for their own good trout. The trout really need to take on a more laid back, skater mental attitude. It was sunny and warm (my birthday wish) and we didn't get skunked.
I can't wait for the last day of school, this Friday at 11:50 a.m. (but who's counting). The good news is that I have a couple of 7th graders here at school that are interested in coming out on Tuesday night to give slalom a whirl, so that should be fun.
The bad news is that between now and 3 p.m. today I have to do all my grades :(
James - good luck this weekend. You are an absolute inspiration to all of us.
Thanks again to all of you. I'm trying to clear out my schedule. I'm definitely clear for Hood Games, jury is still out on State Games. See all of you soon.J

ULTRASKATE IV at GreenLake this SAT-SUN

This Saturday from 8 a.m., Barefoot Ted from SoCal, Eric from Texas, Sheldon Lessard, Keito Swan and I will head from Gasworks park to Marymoor and back, a total of four times (25 miles each way.) Looks like we'll be joined with some guys from the NWLB crew as well! The first 100 miles are an unsupported, survivalist distance ride so everyone will be packing water and food. If you wanted to come out and ride that part, a bicycle's a good idea!
After the first 100 miles, we'll roll into GreenLake around 5--6 p.m. Sat evening, ride the moonlight, and wrap up at 8 a.m. Sunday, then go 100 meters over to BETH'S for breakfast again!
There will be at least five riders in the U.K. starting their ride 8 hours ahead of us (midnight in Seattle), and Trevor Gibson doing it over in Colorado, and Rodrigo down in San Diego on his own 24-hour course.
Stop by the lake if you get a chance!

So even in practice Patrick Aldred goes all out. On Sunday he was really going for speed when...SLAM! Patrick hit hard ... hard enough to crack his helmet, get a hipper, crack some ribs, scrape his chin and break his collar bone. Heal up quickly Patrick. You will be missed while you recover. Take care John

I would like to set courses tomorrow (Sunday), document them, and then reproduce them on race day.
I also need to make some measurements of the top of the hill, in order to make the starting ramps. (Minimalistic roll-in ramps that just fit the top of the hill).
Anyone up for this (including Paul) call me at (five oh three) "sex for five" oh tree to tree.
