2007 Oregon State Games Plans

I am meeting next week with the Oregon State Games people to plan 2007 slalom race.
Due to several factors (Son getting married end of june, Hood River, other races, etc), I propose the following:
1) Races on June 2nd and 3rd 2) More advertising in skate shops, etc. to get beginners. 3) 3 races again: GS (best X runs single-lane), tight straight (best X runs single lane), Hybrid dual (qualify, head-to-head). 4) Perhaps a Full-Moon nightime park slalom on Friday June 1st
Please let me know of any conflicts with other races or events. Can someone point me to a knowledgeable person that I could talk to about getting a park slalom for the Friday night?
Any other ideas or suggestions?

Hey John, I also got some info from Corey. I'll probably approach the Motel 6 first, and if they don't bite, then I'll walk around to the other motels nearby. I want to stay in that area specifically because it's close to where the Hut Shuttle does Pickup/Dropoff for the Portland airport just in case anyone actually flys out to either of my events. Thanks - Paul

Hey all you SEATTLE guys who have rented motels in Salem, WHICH ONE DO YOU GUYS PREFER AND WHAT IS THE NAME so I can get ahold of them and talk about a Racer's Special Price for the Salem races.
Otherwise HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE
Good to hear from you again Thorski, glad you're still riding and out there.
Good to see some high-adventure Japan photos from the Ironman.

The last time I rode a skateboard I actually rode around some cones. It was fun and I had a nice time. Hope you all are having fun too and look forward to seeing some of you soon. The new Battle Ground park will be sweet for a park slalom when completed. Have a Happy New Year!

In place of turkey and gravy this Xmas, its ramen, soba, kai-ten sushi, and free cigarettes from Winston girls wearing hello kitty bags, Flashdance leggings and mini-skirts, in freezing weather. And bikers in leopard print and fishnet stockings. Gotta love Tokyo!
Some HUGE thanks to MIKE at GRAVITY SPORTS in Renton for hand-delivering skate goods at wicked hours (looooong story) just before boarding the plane at SeaTac. They rock!!
At the local skate shop here, same story as a few years ago...completes range from $320 and up, most are set up with CarverC7s. Other interesting setups are Tunnel and Rockit slalom reissues with Cambrias and Trackers (only $380) -- and Seismic schlongboards "two position truck system" with extra mounting holes in the nose, with a page long "how to surf." And Carveboards are only $630!
Found a community-built wooden halfpipe in the 'hood, altho I didn't bring the park board! This trip is full of family outings so only a couple morning rides so far, and two days of typhoon-like rain has kept me at bay. In the meantime I threw together a short clip of SALEM Games this summer from some video scraps on my laptop (that's all I really had here)
That's it from the Nippon Journal for now -- looking forward to shreddin' up 2007 with y'all -jp

I'm just throwing the towel in right now, that's it, I've had enough, ......OK, so that was a little overboard. I've got a new secret adaptation for RT-X's so I'll show you guys in Salem.
SALEM MOTELS- Hey all you Seattle types that have rented a motel in Salem for those races(Moy, Stryker, Jackman, Roe), WHAT MOTEL DID YOU GUYS RENT?, IS THERE A FAVORITE?
Let me know what your favorite place is with a name and phone # if you have it and I'm going to contact them and see if I can get a "Racer's Special" since there has been some out-of-the-area interest in coming out this year. That way I can list the motel name and phone/email and shuttle services to the Portland airport. Thanks - Paul

Brad's "new" front truck is...not a G.O.G, he's already got two of them, and they are back in for retrofitting. You'll see what it is on the Soap Box Derby Hill in March, that's if you can keep up with him.

CAT: I LOVE the wind, but then again, I grew up on the open prarie and it was just a part of life I guess.
JOSH: I might just come up and sit on the sidelines and do volunteer stuff, we'll see.

Calling all CSA members!! If any of you need something to do on Jan. 7th, why not come to Portland? Even if you don't want to race, we could use some volunteers. The course is going to be much shorter than the last, but just as grueling. Should be a great time!

Doing Well in Corvallis, Oregon

Hey Cat, Thanks, We're doing fine, electricity went out everywhere in Corvallis and the surrounding area and along the Oregon Coast. Our power came back last night but a few areas around Corvallis were still without power this morning and all the schools were called off for today in my area due to power outages. The Coast got HUGE waves of 25ft-50ft swells and wind gusts of 120mph, I don't know what it was like on the shore but probably pretty impressive. I guess a lot of the Coast is still without power. Funny thing is, I was stoked about the wind and made it a point to be out in it last night. Growing up in Cheyenne WY and the incredible winds there, I miss it sometimes and it just feels good to be out in some blasting winds. Anyhow, gotta get back to work, Hope all is well with you and Merry Christmas(or whatever you do) - Paul
